INFO AND TIPS
Stitches used in the pattern:
- rib stitch- k2, p2,
- rib stitch- k1, p1,
- stockinette stitch- purl in odd rows, knit in even rows;
BODY
Back piece
With 5 mm (US 8) knitting needles and color Taupe CO 82 (92) 102 (112) sts.
Work 11 rows in rib stitch k2, p2.
In the 12th row increase 1 st every 8 (9) 10 (11) sts = 92 (102) 112 (122) sts.
Change to 6 mm (US 10) needles and work 14 rows in stockinette stitch. In the 15th row start
the chicken motifs acording to the diagram. Remember that you can swap the chicken
colors as you want.
Continue knitting in stockinette stitch, on the 107th (121th) 135th (149th) row (in stockinette
stitch), start the neckline.
Pass the middle 22 sts on the circular needles, and then, pass successively in every 2nd row
on each side of the neckline: 3 sts, 2 sts and 1 st.
In the 115th (128th) 142th (156th) row, BO the remaining arms sts.
Front piece
Work as back piece. Work the chicken motifs as on the back, swapping the chicken colors as
desired.
Start the neckline in the 101st (115th) 129th (143rd) row.
In the 115th (128th) 142th (156th) row, BO the remaining arms sts.
Make sure that the number of stitches left for the arms and the number of rows finishing
the front piece is the same as at the back.

SLEEVES
With 5 mm (US 8) knitting needles CO 38 (44) 44 (44) sts.
Work 15 rows in rib stitch k2, p2.
In the 16th row inc 1 st every 6 sts = 44 (51) 51 (51) sts.
Change to 6 mm (US 10) needles and start to work in stockinette stitch.
In every 8th row, inc 1 st on both sides of the sleeve.
In the 18th row counting from the beginning of the stockinette stitch, insert the chicken
motifs acording to the diagram, remember, that you can use the colors alternately.
Continue to the 108th (112th) 112th (126th) row = 68 (75) 75 (77) sts.
BO all the sts.
FINISHING
Sew parts of the sweater together with mattress stitch.
Work 16 rows of the sts on circular needles in rib stitch k1, p1, and BO. Fold in half and sew
on the inside with back stitch.
Embroider the eyes, beaks and legs of the chicken with some leftover yarn.
