Bathline Sensations is an umbrella brand that offers Boutique and product
specific brands to our niche clientele though we have a wide range that range
from premium all the way to ultra luxury.
Bathline owes its origin to a 45 year old legacy, it was started with brand DRIPLESS
that was founded by late Shri Ram Lal Gupta Ji and under his guidance, Mr Vinay
Gupta and his brother set up a company named DRIPLESS, which is first company
in India to manufacture single lever faucets.
Then after, in 1980’s there was a restructuring in the family business and Mr
Vinay Gupta changed his focus towards international market (because he did not
want to compete with his brothers in the same industry and keeping up with good
relation). So the manufacturing for other OEM started when the China’s market
was quite underdeveloped.
It is all his hard work of last 40 years that today, the company is export the
bathroom fittings and bathtubs to nearly 24 countries around the globe.
We are one of the largest exporters of the bathtubs from Asia and the only
company that manufactures jointless bathtubs and also have various patents in
bathtub customization – slimmest bathtub of acrylic is made by us (Acquaviva).
After getting a good hold around the globe our chairman decide to focus in the
world of hospitality while there were many other brands to take a root in to
dealer market which is intense, but then the world of hospitality was suffering.
Why Suffering??
A hotel that usually with 200 – 300 rooms will not go for an Italian brands that
were then established in India like Hansa and it never made sense for the
hoteliers to make use of such expensive bathwares in every room. Also the
Europe based brands did not have any strong after sales network in India.
Whereas, Indian manufactured brands like Jaguar and Ess-Essdesign language and
quality goes a bit off beat for the hotels or in other words we can say like more
Dealer-home based products.
Since our company was making quality products in India with a range of designs,
competitive pricing and got a good hold in the international market also. We
started our Indian journey in the world of Hospitality with ITC Maurya Sheraton
that was built in 1977 and still employs products.
After that there was no looking back and we got such a good recognition, that
when Bill Clinton who was then the president of the U.S. came to India and and
among all the other brands our brand was chosen to make his Suite bathroom
and the key members who were involved in the making of the Bill Clinton’s suite
got press coverage across the country.
Speaking of the properties, we have done ITC Maurya Saket, ITC Rajputana, ITC
Mughal, ITC Grand Chola, ITC Grand Bharat, ITC Maratha, ITCKakatia, recently
built 7 star property in Kolkata - ITC Royal Bengal.
Some more hotels that we are associated with are Taj Luxury Hotels, Radisson
Hotels and Resorts, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, Shangri – La, JW Marriott Hotels
and Resort, Westin Hotels and Resort, to name a few, whereas in the developer’s
group some of them are DLF Building India, Unitech, K. Raheja Universal, K.
Raheja Corporation, Jaypee Group, Amrapali Group, Lodha Group, M3M Group,
M2K builders, M2K Adani, to name a few.
Once we set our hospitality and dealer network in India we got our hands into this
emporio. Many people still think that hotel’s sanitary ware are not branded but it
is to be noted that a brand plays a very important role as in your house it’s you
and your guest using the bathroom but a 5 star property has a International
clientele and user (close to 90%).
And they cannot use the products which are low priced and does not look stylish
by design, as a hotel might loose on its clientele this way. If one item in washroom
does not work, the room is wasted. We all check everything if the products are in
working condition in our hotel’s bathroom or not. And it’s the trust in our quality
products and the reliability factor that our brand has made over past 4 decades.
A hotel’s project cost somewhere around 500 – 600 crores and if we a rough
about the costing of bathroom fitting it is around 50 lakh – 1 crore and if we see
the ratio of both the making of the hotel and the bathroom, it is just next to
nothing. And the brand like Grohe and Kohler will cost them around 1.25 – 1.50
crore. But still they are associated with us is because of the trust in the brand that
has been doing all the hotels.
Then in the year 1999, the company realized that the Indian market needs
international import products to make use of it.
But the scariest thought every buyer had was “What about the after sales
services”.
Just like what happened with Hansa and Moen.
Hansa got into legal trouble (they backed out from Indian market) and Moen also
shut their operations over night in india.
Since we were in to the manufacturing of the fittings, we had our in house
technical team and Mr Vinay Gupta had that confidence that we can solve the
aftersales issue. This is where he came with the idea of Bathline India Pvt. Ltd.
