Amendments

1 January 2017 – MARPOL Annex I – oil residues


Amendments to regulation 12 of MARPOL Annex I, concerning tanks for oil
residues (sludge). The amendments update and revise the regulation, expanding
on the requirements for discharge connections and piping to ensure oil residues
are properly disposed of.

Annex 2 (1 January 2021)

Regulation 13 (Control of discharges of residues of noxious liquid substances)


imposes a stricter prewash and discharge requirement
after unloading of persistent floaters when the port of unloading is located inside
certain areas (Northwest European waters, Baltic Sea
area, Western European waters, and the Norwegian Sea).

Annex 4 (1 JUNE 2021)


The following amendments in MARPOL Annex IV should enter in force
by 01/06/2021:
Restrictions on the discharge of untreated sewage from passenger
ships (those carrying more than 12 passengers) in the Baltic Sea

Annex 5 (2018} SAHEEM KHAN

for cargo residue ). The regular record book is also revised to add a new category
i.e E-Waste foe all electronic waste including electronic component, equipment,
parts and accessories.

mandatory the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), for new ships, and the Ship
Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) for all ships

Annex 6 (01 january 2017) 16.1 regulation (Incinerator amendments)
1. you cannot burn pvc ods toxic chemicals and metallic solids in incinerator that is
administration approved

2. Waste should not be fed in incinerator when the combustion temperature is less
than the minimum required temperature of 850 degrees

3. Should be able to produce 600 degrees within 05 mins of operation

4.Incenerator should be administration approved.


Annex 6 01 JANUARY 2022 (DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO REGULATION 21 OF MARPOL ANNEX VI
TO BE ENTERED)

Following changes to the time period and the reduction rates for EEDI
phase 3 requirements for certain ship types (Table 1 of Regulation 21
for larger bulk carriers, Table 2 of Regulation 21 for bulk carriers for
ships with DWT less than, equal to or more than 279,000):
*Potential change to ship/machinery design to reduce GHG emissions
*Technical and operational measures that can be considered to
reduce GHG emissions

Annex 6 (01 APRIL 2022) DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO REGULATION 2, 14, AND APPENDIX VI OF
MARPOL ANNEX VI FOR ONBOARD SAMPLING POINTS TO BE ENTERED
Following changes to be done:
* Annex VI regulation 2; a new definition in regulation 2 on
low flashpoint fuel, for which sampling points will be exempted.
*MARPOL Annex VI regulation 14; Requirements on sampling points.
This applies to both new ships (constructed after entry into force) existing
ships(first renewal survey 12 months or later, after entry in
to force).
*IAPP certificate supplement; New checkboxes for indicating the presence of
sampling points are to be added.

BWM CONVENTION (01 JUNE 2022) DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO BWM CONVENTION

Amendments to the International Convention for the Control and Management of
Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004 (BWM Convention), concerning
commissioning testing of ballast water management systems and the form of the

requirements for fire integrity of windows on passenger ships carrying not more
than 36 passengers and on special purpose ships with more than 60 (but no more
than 240) persons on board

ISM CODE (1 January 2021)


Cyber risks are appropriately addressed in safety management systems (as
defined in the ISM code) during the annual verification of the company's
Document of Compliance (DOC).

Members are recommended to understand and identify different


types of cyber threats.
Member to understand the vulnerabilities and risk.
Member to develop protection and detection measures, establish contingency
plans, and should a cyber incident occur, know how to
respond and recover.

FSS Code, Chapter 8 (January 2020) : Automatic Sprinkler, Fire Detection and Fire
Alarm Systems
MSC.1/Circ.1516 includes a new provision for water quality testing for automatic
sprinkler systems and new flow charts for the testing and replacement of
sprinkler heads and water mist nozzles. The related amendment to Chapter 8 of
the FSS Code adds a new requirement for special attention to be paid to the
specification of water quality provided by the system manufacturer, to prevent
internal corrosion and clogging of sprinklers.

1 jan 2020 Amendments to chapter 8 of the International Code for Fire Safety
Systems (FSS Code) regarding prevention of internal corrosion and clogging of
sprinklers and the inclusion of a new chapter 17 in the FSS Code, mandating
requirements for helicopter facility foam firefighting appliances.

Resolution (MSC.402(96)) include explicit mandatory text clarifying the
requirements for the qualification, authorization and certification of service
suppliers, procedures for maintenance and testing, and what should be
carried out at each stage of testing (weekly, monthly, annually, and 5-
yearly).
