The importation of used household goods is duty free

Remarks
Documents need to be sent to the destination Agent 2 weeks prior to shipment arrival to secure rapid customs clearance and save demurrage and extra charges. Inventory translation to Spanish is at a cost of US$30.00. The dispensa (franchise) may be obtained through a lawyer 90 days before arrival of the shipment or 60 days after the arrival. However the shipment may be held by Customs or in a bonded warehouse and extra charges may be applied. Special franchises are given to returning Honduran citizens after one year abroad and to foreigners that apply for residence in Honduras. Official franchises are given to diplomats and international mission employees. The process to obtain it is similar to that for returning Citizens

Remarks

Diplomats A provisional permit may be obtained for 90 days without payment of taxes. Original B/L must state all vehicles characteristics: series #, colour, brand, model, year, if not stated a fine will be charged. Automobiles may not be more than seven (7) years old. For all Time of the Dispatch: 2 days for the delivery.

Prohibited articles General remark

Importation prohibited of: Weapons, gun powder, drugs, toxic waste. It is recommended to mail all necessary instructions and documentation well in advance and prior to shipment of goods in order to secure rapid customs clearance, avoiding high demurrage and storage charges. Honduras Government adopted ISPM-15 (International standards for Phytosanitary Measures Publication 15) Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade (aka NIFM-15) to standardise the treatment of wood packing materials used for the transport of goods. Details of the requirements will be provided as soon as available.
