ilak Education Society, registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and
Bombay Public Trust Act of 1950, was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated,
well experienced and dynamic personalities in the field of education. It strongly
believes that investment in quality care and education for young minds represent a
significant investment in the future wellbeing of Society. The society has all along kept pace
with the steadily increasing need of education at all levels, i.e, from nursery to college in the
fast expanding and developing Navi Mumbai. Owing to the vision and tireless efforts of the
members of the society, and the unstinted support of the well wishers and citizens of Navi
Mumbai.

Location-
The society established "Tilak Junior College of Science and Commerce" in 2008. The
college building is situated ideally in a sprawling complex, with greenery all around. It is
accessible by road from all sides having BESTand NMMT bus stoppages at stone throw
distance at Plot No.31,Sector 25, Nerul(E).

Tilak Jr. College was started in 2005 with one division of Commerce (Commerce and
Science combined). At present, the Jr. College has intake of 480 students in Science with
General Science, Bifocal – Computer Science and Electronics, and 600 intake in Commerce
(General). The college offers the option of Information Technology (IT) in Science and
Commerce instead of Hindi as an optional subject. The college is recognized by Govt of
Maharashtra and functions on Self Finance basis as per State Govt. guidelines. It follows
curriculum as per Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education.
THE BUILDING-
The building is a 06 storied well-designed structure, with ventilated huge classroom, idyllic
campus, overlooking one side a huge playground and garden on the other side.

The College recruits a group of highly dedicated, qualified and experienced faculty members
to motivate and train the future pillars of our nation.

The College strives to develop in its students the practical abilities they need to contribute to
society and to ensure that their education will enable them to deal with the unexpected twist
of life and adapting to the situations that arise in real life. State of Art facilities include Science
Labs for each subject, Bifocal Science lab for Computer Science and Electronics, IT Lab, A
spacious library with huge range of fiction and non-fictional collection of books.

The college has state of the art five separate well developed labs for Physics, Chemistry,
Biology, Electronics and they are equipped with latest apparatus, furniture & fixtures for
practical’s to be conducted and exposure to learning by doing.

GYMKHANA AND SPORTS-

Along with the indoor games facility, college is gifted with one of the best playgrounds and a
team of national coaches. Cricket, Hockey, Football, Basket ball, Volley ball, Badminton, are
some of the outdoor games in which students take part along with indoor games like
Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis, etc,. Besides these, Yoga is also constituted as an integral
part of the physical education. Besides regular coaching, special coaching camps are
conducted in Diwali and Summer vacations. It provides opportunities to the students
genuinely interested in games, sports and athletics. The aim of Gymkhana is to encourage
the students to participate in games and sports and to enhance their athletic skills.

It conducts various tournaments of indoor games within the college and endeavors to send
its teams to participate in various Inter - Collegiate and other relevant tournaments at Zonal /
State / National level. It is well - equipped with requisite sports material and is keen in
encouraging the students in every possible way.

COLLEGE CANTEEN-
Canteen facilities are provided in the campus and remains open on working days during
the hours notified by the Principal. Here students are served with Snacks, Hot tea,
Cold drinks at fair prices.

SUPPORT SYSTEM-
BUS / TRAIN TRAVEL CONCESSIONS-
Bus/Train concessions are available to the bonafide students of the college from their
local residence to the college for their daily travel except vacations. Long distance
concessions are also available to go to their native place during the vacations as per the
rules.

OFFICE TIMINGS FOR THE STUDENTS-
On all working days the office timing for the students will be from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm except
during vacation.
During vacation, office timing will be from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm only. The college office will
remain closed on all Sundays and Public Holidays announced by the Government of India
and Government of Maharashtra.
IDENTITY CARD-
Every student must obtain an identity card from the college office by presenting
passport size, color photograph (latest) within one week from the day of
commencement of regular classes of the first term. The identity card must be
maintained in good condition throughout the academic year. If the identity card is lost
/ damaged / defaced, students must obtain duplicate identity card immediately from
the college by paying the necessary charges.

JR. COLLEGE ADMISSIONS AND SUBJECT DETAILS-


ADMISSION PROCESS-
Admission to Commerce & Science streams starts after the declaration of the result of
the respective qualifying examinations. Admissions are given as per the online
procedure prescribed by Govt. of Maharashtra.
Students / applicants seeking minority and in house admission will have to come in
in prescribed guidelines with the Xerox copy of marksheet and L.C.(Original).
The application in the prescribed form must be filled in completely and signed by the
student and countersigned by his / her parent / guardian.
No admission is valid unless and until it is granted by the authority of the Principal and
the full fees is received by the college.
All admissions are valid for one academic year only. A student who has qualified himself

/ herself for admission to XII standard will have to fill a fresh application in the prescribed
form and pay the required fees within the period notified.
Fees is collected separately for every term for each academic year.
Once admitted to the college, he/she will be considered duly enrolled for the entire
course i.e. for two years and No. Objection Certificate will not be issued after passing
XI standard.
The application form should be accompanied by:
 Statement of Marks of S.S.C. Examination (Original with two attested copies)
 Two identity card size recent photographs of the applicant.
 Original Transfer / Leaving Certificate with two attested copies.
The Original Leaving Certificate will not be returned to the student under any
circumstances.
Students who have passed the S.S.C. Examination of any other statutory Board in
India, or abroad with English as one of the subject and seeking admission to F.Y.J.C.
in Commerce (General), Science streams, the admission shall be subject to the
verification of Board and the eligibility certificate and the following certificates and
documents must be produced within the prescribed time. Failure to same shall lead
to cancellation of admission as per guidelines.
 Duly filled in application form
 Declaration on stamp paper of Rs. 20/-
 A valid statement of marks
 The passing Certificate of the last examination
 Leaving Certificate in Original
 Migration Certificate in Original with two attested Xerox copies.
Their confirmation of admission is subject to the issue of final eligibility certificate by
the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Examination,
Mumbai division. All admissions are provisional until all the necessary certificates are

ARRANGEMENT OF TERMS-
Academic Year comprises of two terms
1. First term - June to October.
2. Second term - November to April,
With a short break during December for Christmas.
MODE OF PAYMENT FOR FEES-
In view of the pandemic, and give comfort to the parents to pay fees, the college has
extended the Online and Offline mode of payment.
For Online fees payment, the link for paying fees shall be provided during payment of
fees (Contact Office staff/Class Teacher for more details) and for Offline fees, the fees
can be paid with the Challan issued from the office at the respective bank or a DD can be
issued in favour of “TILAK JR COLLEGE, NERUL”, with details mentioned at the back
side.
For the amount to be paid (Based on Optional Subjects) the office staff shall extend
assistance.
CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION-
A student who intends to leave the college shall inform the Principal in writing at least 15
days before the commencement of each term. If no such intimation is received, the full fees
for the second term will have to be paid by the student. The Leaving Certificate will be issued
only after a week from the date of application. Under no circumstances the Leaving
Certificate will be issued earlier than the period specified. "No dues" certificate should be
obtained by the student / guardian from Library-in-charge, Lab-in-charge and Sports-in-
charge before the Leaving Certificate is issued. Leaving Certificate will be issued free of
charge. No duplicate copy of a L. C. will be issued under any circumstances.
ATTENDANCE-
It is obligatory that the student attend all Lectures, Practical’s, Class-test, term-ending and
Preliminary Examination.
Minimum attendance-of 75% is necessary during the first & second term separately for
appearing in Annual or Board Examination as per the Maharashtra Board guidelines.
(Note: A day's attendance means attendance of all the lectures, tutorials, seminars and
practical’s according to the class time table for the day)

"To keep a term, student must complete, to the satisfaction of the principal, the course of
study at the college prescribed for such terms for the class to which such student then
belongs. Latecomers will not be allowed to attend lectures and will be marked as full day
absent.
REFUND OF FEES & CAUTION MONEY-
If a student duly admitted cancels his/her admission before one term his / her fee paid for the
term including tuition fee will be forfeited.
For all cancellation of admission the identity card, library card (if issued) and the fee
receipt should be surrendered along with the application.
Caution Deposit to a student will be refunded only after all belongings of the college is
returned and no money is due to the college.
The Caution Deposit will be refunded only on the notified date by the college.
Caution Deposit should be claimed within three months of his / her leaving the college, after
this period the claim will lapse.
JR. COLLEGE EXAMINATIONS-
F.Y.J.C. students have to appear for two unit tests and two term end Examinations.
To be eligible for appearing Board Examinations, apart from 75% attendance, the
S.Y.J.C students have to appear the Class tests, Unit tests, Terminal examinations and two
Preliminary examination,
The performance of all the examinations will be taken into account for Annual Promotion.
A.T.K.T. rules are applicable for XI standard as per govt. guidelines.
Attendance for the Tests and Examination is compulsory and no consideration will be
given except on medical grounds with provisions mentioned.
Students with poor performance or poor attendance may not be permitted to appear for
annual examination at XI standard and Board Examination at S.Y.J.C. level.
Promotion at F.Y.J.C. will be decided on the percentage of the combined total of the first and
second term ending examination including unit test and internal assessment marks as per
the government rules. Students and parents are requested to give equal importance to
all the examinations and unit tests including class assignments apart from daily
attendance.
If a student uses any unfair means in any exam, he / she will be marked zero in the paper and

will not be allowed for further papers in the examinations in XI & XI I.
Special classes and study camps are compulsory for H.S.C. students. They should attend
the same without fail.

E –LEARNNG PLATFORM –
The pandemic was a 3600 digital transformation for teachers. The first online module for
Class XII 2020-21 was in the first week of April, 2020. The college was physically closed,
but the classes were on. The module was with a vison to engage students actively for
learning. Interactive and need based LEARNING CONTENT, with content gamification
like online subject relative games, quizzes, online stimulated practical’s and use of other
tools proved to be very effective.
The online recorded lectures, interactive and doubt solving sessions, notes,
question banks and worksheets are uploaded in the drive, which can be accessed
by the student anytime as a useful resource and study material.
Moreover, during the online classes for understanding the students learning problem on
digital platform, or any doubts and queries, one-to-one mentoring is done with a strong
connect with Student.

Apart from the regular classes, the proactive step in E-Learning was introduction to –
1. Bridge Course
2. Sessions and Extra Guidance on Competitive Exams like NEET, JEE, CA Foundation
and Other competitive and Entrance Exams

The above both modules are part of regular curriculum. At a very early stage in
Class XI the Students get practice to prepare for competitive exams and prepare
for entrance.

BRIDGE COURSE-
The college as part of qualitative education program and innovations, takes pleasure in
introducing free Bridge Course for seamless transition from one class to another, one
level to another. The module is a short, intensive training program with interactive
teaching, Self-learning instruction, and comprehensive evaluation techniques.
It suits the purpose of learning in real terms and the very basic concepts of the subject
are cleared, further enhancing the quality of learning.

COMPETITIVE/ENTRANCE EXAMS-
During the regular teaching-learning, in-house guidance and tips is given for the
Competitive exams like NEET, JEE, CA FOUNDATION courses which is goal driven. Test
series, assignments of competitive exams are part of the regular learning and are
incorporated with expert lecture series.

COMING SOON – ROBOTICS LAB
Nurturing the students for a competitive world, and in view of the NEP implementation, The
ROBOTICS lab will be shortly inaugurated. STEM activities and AI with Robotics is under
implementation stage.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES-

There is fine blend of curricular and co-curricular activities. As the college aims at holistic
development, it instills in its student affection for learning which leads to development of their
intellectuals, creative and moral capabilities throughout their lives. Keeping this in mind, the
institution is involved in many activities apart from academic activities to discover their individuality
and confidence in their own worth. The college has a wide range of co- curricular activities which
receives as much importance as the academic disciplines.

The college encourages students to pursue their interest in Music, Debates, Elocution, and Quiz,
Essay writing etc. to tap their talents and skills. It organizes Conferences, Talent shows, Different
Music, Dance & Quiz Competitions, Exhibitions, Vocational career conference, etc and gives

EUPHORIA- INTER-COLLEGE FEST-

Online activity on talent hunt was organized which got a huge response from other colleges and
students had participated in various activities.

COMMUNITY SERVICE-
Being Committed to Society and defining life goals with values is the vison of Tilak
Education Society. Some of the community services undertaken are in association with
Tata Hospital or Cancer Patients, Nerul Gymkhana and Other Community programs
where student voluntarily come forward and offer their services.

SCHOLARSHIPS & PRIZES-


Prizes are awarded to the toppers in each division on the basis of the average marks of the
year. Similarly Tilak Education Society provides students free ships and half-fee
concessions to economically backward and meritorious students. Society also gives fee
concessions and scholarship to students who have proved their talent in the field of sports
and games at district and state level.
COLLEGE MAGAZINE-
To encourage the writing abilities of the students, the college publishes an annual issue of
the college magazine at the end of lInd term of every academic year. Besides well-chosen
articles, it contains a glimpse of various co-curricular activities and achievements of the
students during the academic year.
