SOME TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS BEFORE START!
- Work in continuous spirals, do not join rounds making the slip stitch (unless specified
otherwise)
- Use a stitch marker (or a piece of a different color yarn, or paper clips, or safety pins, or
hair clips). It will help you indicate the round, row or any location on the worked piece. In
this pattern we will be crocheting in rounds so always mark the first stitch of the round.
© 2020 Soft.Toy.For Joy. All rights reservedMake sure you crochet pretty tight all the way to prevent getting large stretching holes
between the stitches (so the stuffing doesn’t get out once you've firmly filled the toy with
stuffing). If your crochet is pretty loose | recommend to try to change a crochet technique
and yarn UNDER instead of yarn OVER (I personally use the yarn under technique all the
time).
Of course you can choose other yarns — the choice of yarn is completely up to you and
your personal taste. But please, be aware that toy’s measurements may change so make
sure you adjust the size of the eyes accordingly.
Using the indicated yarn (Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran) on 3.0 mm hook, the panda
measures 14 cm (5.5 inch) total with ears.
If you decide to use some other yarns, please always keep in mind that when making toys,
it’s better to use a hook 1, 2 or even 3 sizes smaller than what is recommended on the
yarn label. It will make your toys look more neatly and beautifully.
Stuff the toy with filling as you go and keep doing that as the hole becomes smaller. Add
stuffing until the last moment. Use small bits of stuffing and push them into it with your
fingers or the back of your crochet hook, or back of the pencil.
This pattern is written in US crochet terms.

Insert the safety eyes between rounds
15 and 16 of the head with an
interspace of 7 stitches (we count the
interspace stitches not from the edge of
the eyes but from the eye’s bolt - the
part we insert to the head and secure
from inside)
Start stuffing the head with fiberfill and
keep doing that as the hole becomes
smaller.
The head should be stuffed tightly.
