Liturgical Leaflet for an Active Participation in the Celebration of the Eucharist

6 August 2023 Transfiguration of Our Lord Year A

PARISH PRIEST’S SUNDAY

JESUS, SON AND SERVANT OF THE FATHER

J esus’ transfiguration on Mount Tabor was a memorable event

not only in his life but also in the lives of the three privileged
disciples: Peter, James, and John. The event was for Jesus a moment
of revelation and glory. It was also an affirming experience for the three dis-
ciples whose faith in Jesus would soon be subjected to a serious test during
his passion and death.
Jesus’ transfiguration should likewise be an affirming experience for all of
us who need to relate to him as the sure source of our salvation and inspiration,
especially in moments of crisis and discouragement. May our participation in
this Eucharist make us share in Jesus’ strength.
Today is John Vianney Sunday or “Parish Priest’s Sunday” – a day devoted
to honor all parish priests, but in a special manner our own parish priest. In
gratitude for their vital service, let us offer this Eucharist for our own parish priest and all those who
exercise this fatherly ministry throughout the world.
