Reflection On Divine Providence

The document discusses the author's reflection on their belief in divine providence and God. As a child, they were taught that God controls all things and people should devote themselves to serving Jesus. However, as they learned about other religions, they started questioning whether God truly exists and who God is. Attending bible studies raised more questions, as other religions claim to be true and the bible contains contradictions. The author stopped believing in God due to the lack of clear evidence and differences between religions. They concluded that their future depends on their own actions rather than divine intervention. While they no longer believe, the author respects that others may hold different beliefs.

Reflection on Divine Providence

Activity for Spiritual Self

As a Roman Catholic, I was taught about God's Providence ever since I was a kid. My mother
used to tell me that God(Jesus) controls every single thing in this world we live in so I should
behave and grow to be a diligent person so that God will not bring me harm. And in case that
He did, it would be for my sake. Jesus is the one true god and we must devote our lives in
serving him. And if we do so, God will provide us our daily needs. This is what I believed but as I
grew up, I learned that people worship God other than Jesus and this is also the first time I
knew about different religions. I started to ask myself if God really exists and if he does, who
exactly is he. I certainly knew that it is possible that the God I worship is not real so I attended
bible studies. When the pastor asked if we have questions, I was fortunate to have someone
ask why there are so many religions(I was shy so I was not able to ask directly) and the pastor
answered that according to the Bible, those religions are fake, or fraud and they used it to steal
people's money. This was the time I stopped believing in God because if you think carefully, in
every sacred books of every religion mentioned that every other religion aside from them is
fraud. I also heard many contradictions as I visited bible studies like how God will guide us to
the future we desire as long as we believe in him then telling us that we should not just depend
on God, we also need to take action. If we were the ones doing the works, then it just means
that God had done nothing but watch us. And also, if He was so powerful that he can change
the future he wanted it to become, then why would He create where there are so many
religions. Some say that this is just a test to see if we can differentiate the one true God from
the fake ones, but how about those people born in different religion. They were taught about
the religion their parents believed in so you can't expect him to convert to the right religion just
because you said yours was the true one while his was fake. And if God made accidents(for
example you are riding a motorcycle and suddenly a car crashed into you) and these accident
made you gain faith in God, then what do you think will happen to the driver of the car? He/She
would be fined or in worst case go to prison even though they did nothing wrong(as God was
the one responsible for the accident). There are still so much information that proves that God
does not exist but one thing I'm sure of is that I am of my own will. My future depends on the
things I've done in the past. I don't believe in Divine Providence since I am the one deciding
what I do in my life. This is my belief but I don't intend to influence others because who knows,
I may be the one in the wrong here. And so I respect other people regardless of the difference
in our beliefs.
