INTRODUCTION:

1. DESIGN OBJECTIVE

Design objectives refer to the specific goals, intentions, and priorities that
govern the production of a building's or structure's design. These goals are crucial in
deciding the overall form, objective, and appeal of a structure.

2. DESIGN STRATEGY

A design strategy includes a thorough plan or method that outlines how the
architectural design goals and objectives of a project will be accomplished.

Why do we build?
We construct to meet the demand for habitation. From ancient caves to
modern skyscrapers, our need for shelter is as old as time. Our desire for shelter goes
beyond just having a roof over our heads. It's about creating a space where we feel safe,
comfortable, and connected. Think of your favorite spot in your home, whether it's a nook
for reading, a kitchen for cooking up a storm, or a living room where you unwind with
loved ones. In summary, human shelter is undeniably crucial for our existence and well-
being. It offers protection and ensuring our safety and comfort. But its significance goes
deeper, encompassing psychological and emotional needs. Our homes are more than
physical spaces; they provide us with a sense of belonging, privacy, and a backdrop for
our lives. Shelter is also a reflection of our cultural identity and individuality. Different
architectural styles tell the story of our heritage and connection to our surroundings. As
we've evolved, so have our shelters, from simple caves to intricate skyscrapers,
showcasing our ability to adapt and innovate.

And to discuss thoroughly about the aspects of design objectives, here are the some of
significantly important goals in design.

1. ) Functionality
The design should meet the building's functional requirements. It should have
the essential spaces, layouts, and features to accomplish the structure's
intended purpose. It focuses on optimizing the usability and efficiency of the
spaces.

2. ) Aesthetics
It focuses on the visual and sensory aspects of design, creating buildings
that are aesthetically pleasing, harmonious, and culturally relevant. Aesthetic
considerations encompass elements like form, proportion, materials, colors,
and overall visual harmony.
3. )Sustainability
This objectives focus on minimizing the environmental impact of the building.
This includes incorporating energy-efficient systems, using sustainable
materials, optimizing natural lighting and ventilation.

4. .) Cultural Relevance
It's about creating architecture that resonates with and contributes to the
cultural fabric of its surroundings.

5. ) User/s Experience
This involves considering factors such as ergonomics, acoustics, indoor air
quality, accessibility, and creating spaces that promote social interaction and
connectivity

6. ) Cost- Effectiveness
Design objectives should balance the desired features and quality of the
building with the available budget, aiming for cost-effective solutions.

7. ) Contextual Integration
In this design objective, the architect considers the surrounding environment
and context of a site when designing a building. It also includes the factors
such as topography, climate, culture, and historical context.

A world where buildings aren’t just structure, but living, breathing entities that coexist
harmoniously with the environment. That’s the magic of sustainable architecture.

This strategy focuses on optimizing a building's natural resources and
reducing reliance on mechanical systems. Its goal is to minimize the need for
mechanical systems such as air conditioning, heating, and artificial lighting,
by relying on the inherent qualities of the site, climate, and building materials.

2. ) Biophilic Design
A captivating approach that harmoniously blends nature and architecture,
creating spaces that invigorate our senses and well-being. By incorporating
natural elements like light, greenery, and water, it offers a refreshing
environment that reconnects us with nature and fosters a sense of tranquility.
3. ) Adaptive Reuse

This strategy involves re-purposing existing buildings for new functions rather
than demolishing and building anew. It's a sustainable approach that
preserves historical and architectural heritage while meeting contemporary
needs.

4. ) Universal Design
This strategy emphasizes creating spaces that are accessible and usable by
people of all ages, abilities, and disabilities. It aims to eliminate barriers and
promote inclusive through features like ramps, wide doorways, tactile paving,
and adjustable furnishings.

5.) Hierarchy of Spaces

A strategy which involves creating a sequence of spaces with varying levels
of privacy and function. It facilitates the transition from public to private
spaces within a building and promotes a more natural flow of movement.

6.) Resilient Design

A strategy which involves addressing the challenges posed by climate
change, natural disasters, and other environmental factors. Architects
incorporate resilient features such as flood-resistant design, hurricane-
resistant structures, and resilient infrastructure to ensure the longevity and
safety of buildings in the face of potential risks.

It's the art of crafting spaces that stand tall in the face of challenges, embracing both
beauty and durability. Resilient buildings are like champions, designed to weather
storms, adapt to changes, and keep their occupants safe and comfortable. They're a
blend of innovation and reliability, ensuring that the spaces we inhabit not only look
stunning but also provide a sense of security and confidence. So, in the world of
architecture, resilience isn't just a quality – it's a testament to human ingenuity and a
promise of spaces that endure with style.
