•  Effects  &  results  of  these  changes.

1.  To  examine  the  causes  or  reasons  for  what  
happened  in  the  past.  
2.  To  look  for  effects  &  results  of  these  events.  

 
Why  do  we  study  history?

Century  =  group  of  100  years  
Millennium  =  group  of  1000  years

2nd  Ancient  History  =  B.C.    /ll  A.D.  500  
3rd  Middle/Medieval  History  =  A.D.    500  /ll  A.D.1400  
4th  Modern  History  =  A.D.  1400    /ll  Today  J    
 
 
How  to  write  the  date?  
 
B.C.  means  before  Christ  
A.D.  means  In  the  year  aOer  the  lord.  
 
200  B.C.    (Always  wriPen  aOer  the  date)  
A.D.  2015.    (Always  wriPen  before  the  date)  
 
Timelines  
 
It  tracks  the  /me  and  shows  the  sequence  /  order  of  events.  (What

Calendars  
It  arranges  the  days  in  order.  
 
Almost  40  calendars  were  made  in  the  process  of  its  produc/on  
 
The  base  of  our  modern  calendar  was  made  by  Julius  Caesar.  
 
The  Gregorian  calendar  followed  today  was  done  by  Pope  Gregory.  It  
was  mostly  based  on  Caesar’s  calendar.  
 
Our  Hijri  calendar  was  based  on  Prophet  Mohammad’s  Hijra  to  
Madinah  in  622  A.D.  (It  was  based  on  the  shapes  of  the  moon.)
