Title: Believer must receive the power of God’s Grace (Titus 2:11-14)
Main Introduction:-
When we look at and study the entire Bible, we can see different kinds of people in different
times, different practices and cultures, and different ways of worship, and the same thing we can see
different ways of God dealing with different people at different times, but in all, there is one thing we can
see that remains the same thing from the beginning God created this galaxy, till today that is the “Grace of
God”, God saves us through Jesus Christ, through his Grace, In Ephesus 2:8 clearly says we are saved
through God’s grace. If there is no grace then we are supposed not to be here today.
Raising Needs:-
So as I said the grace of God is very important in our life. Brother and sister this morning I want to ask
every one of us, How much the grace of God has done in our life? Let us examine together once again
this morning.
Theme:
Therefore this morning I have entitled my sermon topic as “Why the believer must receive the power of
God’s Grace?” I have chosen a text from the book of Titus 2:11-14.
Purpose:
The purpose of this sermon is to encourage and remind every one of us of those who are under this roof
that every believer must receive the power of God’s grace because the grace of God can save my soul and
your soul, our soul from Sin, set us free and God gives us new life through Christ.
Background
Titus is a personal letter from Paul to Titus (1:1). It is a pastoral letter and deals with church matters. The
book of Titus was written between 63 – 69 AD after release from the first Roman Imprisonment and it
was probably written from Corinth, The name Titus was not mentioned in the Book of Acts, but Titus is
also one of the closest persons to Paul. The meaning of Titus is “Honorable”. The purpose of this Book is
to give Titus primary Instruction in his task by Paul.
Context:
Transition: This morning we want to see the first point under the topic of Why believers must receive the
power of God’s Grace,
S – Because of the grace of God redeemed us.
A – Here the author is reminding the believers that we need to receive the power of God’s Grace.
V – We can see this at 2:11
E – The The word redeem literary means to be set free by paying a price. We were all the slaves of sin
(Titus 3:3) and we couldn’t be set free from our sin and only the Grace of God can give salvation to all
mankind. Here the word mankind referred to all the people, men and women, Slave and free, Jews and
Gentles. Salvation can not be discoured by a sinner, it appears all through the life, death, and resurrection
of Jesus Christ. God so loves the world, so loves us God sent His begotten son to redeem us as we all are
under the bondage of sin. Salvation is for all men, Paul’s letter explains that this salvation is saying that
Christ has given His life to save us and he became our substitute. Which means Dying on behalf of us (1
Peter 2:24). A result of Christ’s death we all are redeemed from slaves of Sin. Because the God’s grace
through Christ.
Illustration:
When we look at our lives we are all sinners in the beginning and we can not save ourselves, because sin
is just like double tape, Once it is stuck it is hard to take out but by the grace of God we can save, we can
overcome the sin.
Transition:
As I have shared the first point because grace redeems us or not let us look at ourselves
The second point is the grace of God reforms us. We can see this in verse 12.
E – Salvation is not only a change of position to set us free from the slavery of sin but it is also a chance
to our actions and attitudes. The same grace can save us and also reform us and make us Godly.
Teaching has the ideas of discipline, believers are disciplined by the spirit of God, and trained to be a
person to glorify Him. And ungodliness means whatever is unlike God Titus 2:2 emphasizes that
believers’ relationship to themselves while righteously dealing with other people is a Godly deal with the
relationship of God. But today how many of us make relationships with others like Godly relationships?
Christ redeemed us from evil. So We must not be comforted by this world, we must transformed or
reformed from this world.
Illustration:
When we look back to the early church father and the reformer leaders from the day have received the
grace of God, they gave their life, they lives for the Lord, and they also faced a lot of challenges but they
sacrificed for the truth and showed exemplary life to others.
S – Because the grace rewards us. We can see in verse 13
E.
We the followers of Christ believe that Jesus will return. We the believers of Christ are looking for return.
Paul did not go more deeply about the return of Christ but he encourages believers to always expect the
return of Christ and like a likeness of Christ will see Him. The gospel always encourages believers to live
Godly lives by focusing on the future return of Christ. Even apostle John encourages believers through his
letter that we must purify ourselves, we have hope to be just as He becomes He is pure.
