and higher education.

-After the compulsory education, secondary education
starts which is not compulsory, yet free.
-Secondary education provides academically and
practically oriented education programmes.
English Language
Education in Denmark
First, the aim was reading and writing and the
spoken language wasn't even considered. Thanks
01
to Otto Jespersen, this changed. He believed in
recognizing words and short sentences by ear.
Four points of the programme was set. Teaching was to be
based on the spoken language. Coherent and sensible texts were
02
to be utilized. Grammar teaching was based on texts. Rather
than translation, teachers were to make use of other activities.
Teachers were using the direct
03
method in their teaching.
ENGLISH AS A MEDIUM
OF INSTRUCTION IN
DANISH UNIVERSITIES
- English is perceived as a threat to the values and the traditions of
Denmark.
-Students feel like their achievements and grades would be affected
negatively due to the use of English in the classroom.
- Some recommendations were made and they are;
- EMI implementations should be continued.
- Universities may provide additional English classes for practice.
- To avoid the perspective that one language may seem superior
compared to the other, the use of Danish and English should be
balanced.
English Language In this study, TPACK integration to English
Teacher Education language teacher education programs in
Turkey and Denmark was analysed and
Programs two countries were compared.
The data was collected with
open ended questions and
classroom observations.
It is found that two countries define
technology differently. Turkey defines
it as hardware and technological
knowledge whereas Denmark defines
it as an application which enables
students to interact both with each
other and with their teachers.
