Curly-Wurly

“Look at Jack's curls!” my grandma sald,
Pinching my cheeks, and patting my head.
“I wish I had hair like you,” added Aunt Pat,
Twisting me around, this way and that
Later that night, when I'd escaped from the crowd,
[looked in the mirror and bellowed out loud,
“can’t stand my hair, it makes me look girly.
I'm going to straighten it out, 1 don’t want it so curly!”
The very next morning, | saw an ad on TV,
“Straight as an Arrow—buy one, get one free!
This lotion is designed to make those curls go away
Be astonished at the difference—try it today!”
So I snatched up my allowance, and ran to the store,
I bought a bottle of lotion, and was given one more.
Back in the bathroom, I rubbed it onto my scalp,
But five minutes later, my hair fell out!
There was hair in the sink and hair on the faucet.
“What's that lotion done? | wish I hadn’t bought it!”
I moaned and I grumbled, while looking for a hat
Then, | tried to sneak out, but felt a hand on my back

quiz“Why are you hiding your gorgeous hair?”
Asked Grandma (as her arm swung through the air)
She swept off my hat, before I had the chance to block.
When I looked at her face, it was in total shock.
“Your curls! Your curls! What have you been doing?
Ihave a potion for that—I need to start brewing!”
“But the ad said the lotion would straighten my hair,”
1 protested in vain, as I was pushed into a chai.
“This'll get those locks back,” said Grandma, not listening.
She took out a big bowl, and started whistling
She squeezed in a lemon, and added some oil,
Then, tossed in some salt and a handful of soil.
She mixed it together, and put it on my head.
How it stung and stank as I went to bed!
But next morning I awoke, and I'm pleased to relate,
My hair had grown back, and it had grown back straight!

From lavish rooms (brand-new),
With Iuxurious pillows on a king-size bed.
There are plenty of things to do nearby,
With restaurants that are renowned,

And don’t forget your cameras,
To take some snaps in the day.

The Winter Olympics are practically here.
They say that the sports will be different this year,
Instead of the athletes who always compete,
They plan to have animals! Won't that be neat?
They plan, for example, in cross-country skiing.
This year to have not even one human being.
Instead, they'll let polar bears out of the z00s
And fit them with custom-made cross-country shoes.
With helmets and skis they'll head out in the cold
‘To race one another and go for the gold.
