B~BODY LANGUAGE---- The body movements and positions. Can be open or closed.
Gives us hidden clues to how the character is feeling.
F~FACIAL EXPRESSION---- The way the mouth, eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, jaw are
positioned. 6 main types: disgust, surprise, sad, happy, anger, fear. Can show subtext: the
character’s hidden feelings.
G~GESTURE---- Shoulder, arm, finger movements. Shows what a character wants, how
they feel or their personality, eg strong and sharp gestures may show an aggressive
character.
P~POSTURE---- How a person holds their body while sitting or standing. The position of
the spine, legs and shoulders. Can show status and emotions.
E~EYE CONTACT---- How a person looks around them. Do they tend to look directly
at people? How long do they hold it? Eye contact can create connections between
characters
W~WALK---- how they walk. Is it smooth, controlled or uneven? What is the pace
(speed) of the walk? Short or long steps?

PHYSICAL ACTING SKILLS INCLUDE;
CONTROL~ Movement is coordinated, fluent, balanced and clear. The actor is committed and
believable. Stillness is controlled.
TIMING~ The speed and change of movements is perfect: it matches the character’s emotions
and the plot.
INTERACTION~ Physical skills build convincing relationships between characters on
stage/audience.
SPACE AND LEVELS~ The actor moves close/far away to show how they feel to other
characters. High, medium and low levels show different statuses.
