Overview:
This manual covers the retrofitting of the existing bill validator with the MEI SC series bill validator.
Required parts:
• Pigtail jumper , part number 252076033
• Universal BEG, part number
SC66 252067014
SC83 252065015
Pigtail jumper

Required tools
• Phillips head screw driver Size 1 or 2
• Small flashlight
• ¼ inch nut driver
• needle nose pliers

Removal of the current bill validator from WMS
Blue Bird Upright Machine
• Unlock and open the Main Door.
• Turn power off to the game.
• Unlock and open the bill validator cash box door.
• Remove the cash box from the BV chassis.
• Use a ¼’’ nut driver to loosen the screw of the bill
validator housing.
• Slide the bill validator housing towards you .
• Disconnect the cash box missing door switch (A) and
Bill validator connector (B).
• Remove the bill validator housing from the machine.

• Use a ¼’’ nut driver to remove the four screws securing the
the two part assembly.
• Three screws are on the right side and the forth is located on the left side.
• Remove the bill validator chassis from the housing.
• Pinch the cash box missing switch located on the rear
Of the bill validator housing and push it into the housing
to remove it.

Installing the MEI SC Series Bill Validator into
the BV Housing
• Insert Universal BEG harness into the SC series bill validator
Acceptor head.
• Attach the BEG to the bill acceptor head by snapping it
into place at the tabs shown.
• Install the MEI SC series bill validtor and chassis into the validator
housing using the same four screws that you removed
in the earlier steps of this manual.

Connecting and Installing the MEI SC Series Bill validator
• Use a pare of needle noise pliers and disconnect the Cash box missing
Connectors from the switch. This switch isn’t used with MEI SC series.
• Connect the MEI Cash box missing terminals (A) as follows
MEI Bluebird harness
Black shielded harness (SW1)
Red wire Gray/Orange
White wire Purple/Orange
Black wire Red/Orange
White shielded harness (SW2)
Red wire Black/Orange
Black wire Black/Gray
White wire Not used
• Connect the MEI RS-232 adapter cable (B) to the SC series interface
harness.
• Connect the RS-232 jumper adapter harness and the Cash box missing
harness as pictured.

• Install the Bill validator housing that contains the MEI SC series into the game.
• Make sure no harnesses are pinched behind the housing before mounting.
• Mount the housing’s slotted hole onto the machine’s left side mounting screw
and pull the housing forward to align properly. Tighten the housing mounting screw
with the ¼ inch nut driver.

Configuring the WMS Bluebird game for the
MEI SC Series Bill Validator
• Uninstall the Hopper by sliding it towards you.
• Change the three jumpers (JP1, JP2, JP3) on the games bulk
head board to the positions 2 & 3.
• Reinstall the Hopper.
• A RAM clear now needs to be performed on the WMS machine.
For details involving these steps, refer to the WMS Bluebird Service
Manual under the Software installation chapter.
• Configure the game with the MEI SC series validator as a machine
device. Reference the Software installation chapter of the WMS
Bluebird service manual for instructions involving these steps..

Configuring The MEI SC Series
Bill Validator.
• Open the STS program.
• Download the proper WMS .xcf. software
File to your PPM.
• Connect the PPM to the MEI SC
series bill validator and press the
download button.
• Wait for the bill validator to perform
a run and stack.
• After the run and stack is performed
wait for the PPM’s leds to turn off
before disconnecting the PPM from
the bill validator.
