LESSON 4
The Mailbox Club presents.
Who is the promised
Savior? The promised Savior
is Jesus. The name “Jesus”
means “Savior.” The angel
said, “You shall call His
Il have sin in our name JESUS: for He shall
a "good news” oa save His people from their
foves us and He, sins.”
Fis conto be our Saver.
When the time came for
the promised Savior to be
born, God sent an angel to a
young woman named Mary,
who was a virgin. The angel
told Mary that she would be
the mother of the promised
Savior.God gave Mary a husband named Joseph to help her
take care of Jesus. As a child, Jesus played with His friends and
helped His parents like other children. But Jesus was different
from anyone else. He did not have sin in His heart like we
have. Jesus always obeyed God. He never sinned!
When Jesus grew up, He taught people
about God. The first time John the Baptist
saw Jesus, he cried out, “Behold the Lamb
of God who takes away the sin of the world.” John called Jesus
“the Lamb of God” because Jesus was going to die on the cross
for our sins.
Jesus said that He was the Son of God. He showed that
He was the Son of God by doing things which only God could
do. Jesus healed sick people. He gave sight to those who were
blind. He caused deaf people to hear. He healed people who
had been lame all their lives. When people heard about this
Man who healed people, great numbers of people followed
Him. The Bible says, “...He healed them all.”

asleep on a pillow in the
back of the boat. As Jesus slept, a great storm arose. The waves
were so high that the disciples thought the boat would sink.
— They woke Jesus saying,
“Lord, save us!”
Jesus stood up and
spoke to the wind and
the waves saying, “Peace,
be still!” The wind stopped
blowing. The waves
became still. The disciples
were amazed that the wind
and the waves obeyed
the Lord Jesus. They said,
“Who is this, that even
the wind and the sea obey
Him?”

bad things. Jesus had power over all evil spirits. When He
commanded them to come out of a person, they obeyed Him
and came out.

5 a, kinds of sick people, but He had
power over death itself. He raised
three people from the dead. One of these was a man named
Lazarus.
Lazarus was the only brother of Mary and Martha, who
were special friends of Jesus. When their brother, Lazarus, was
sick, they sent for Jesus.
When Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days.
Mary and Martha were crying their hearts out. They said to
Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, our brother would not
have died.”
Jesus said, “Your brother shall rise again...I am the
resurrection, and the life: he that believes in Me, though he
were dead, yet shall he live.”
Lazarus had been
buried in a cave. A large
stone was rolled over the
entrance. Jesus told the
people to take the stone
away. Then He cried
out with a loud voice,
“Lazarus, come forth!”
Lazarus came walking out
of the tomb, wrapped in
his grave clothes.
Why The Lord Jesus came to be our
SORE «ec ior He did not comé just to
heal people and do things that no other man could do. He
came to die on the cross for our sins. The saddest but most wonderful
event that ever happened in the
world was when Jesus suffered and
died for our sins.
Satan stirred up wicked men to put Jesus to death. They
told lies about Him. Jesus was taken to the Roman governor,
Pilate. Pilate told soldiers to take Jesus out and whip Him.
Some made fun of Him. Some pulled the hair from His beard.
Some hit Him in the face.
They made a crown of thorns for Jesus.
They made Him carry a heavy cross to
a place called Calvary. There they
crucified Him. His hands were
nailed to the cross. His feet
were nailed to the cross.
Two men who had
done a lot of bad things
were crucified at the same
time. But Jesus had never
done anything bad. He was
taking our punishment and
dying for our sins.
‘As Jesus hung on the
cross, He could see the
men who had beaten Him
and nailed His hands and
feet to the cross. Jesus prayed, “Father, forgive them for they
do not know what they do.” Jesus prayed for His enemies. He
wanted them to be saved.
One of the thieves believed that Jesus was the Son of
God. He asked Jesus to save Him. Jesus said, “Today you will
be with Me in paradise.” This man was saved because he
believed on Jesus and took Him as his Savior. The other man
did not believe on Jesus. He did not go to Heaven. He was lost.Jesus chose to die on the cross for our sins. He died for
my sins. He died for your sins. Our lies, our disobedience, our
bad talk, our stealing, our temper—all of our sins were laid on
Jesus. Each one of us can say, “Jesus died for MY sins!” Say it
tight now—‘“Jesus died for MY sins!”
Do you know why the Lord Jesus
gave His life for you? He gave His life me hag
for you because He loves you. The “OUR SINS
apostle Paul said, “...the Son of God ttm Sen i)
loved me and gave Himself for me.” Xe
You can say this too. Say it to
yourself right now—“The Son of God,
loved ME and gave Himself for ME!” Say it
again! “The Son of God loved ME and gave
Himself for ME!”
Do you know that you have sinned?
Are you truly sorry for your sins? Do you
believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do
you believe that Jesus died on the cross for
your sins? Would you like to take the Lord
Jesus as your Savior? You can do this right
now. Just tell Him,
“Lord Jesus, | know that | have sinned, and | am truly sorry
for my sins. | believe that You are the Son of God and that
You died on the cross for my sins. Right now | am taking You
as my Savior. Please come into my heart and be my Savior.”
Jesus, the Son of God, died on the
cross for MY sins.
‘he Son of God loved me and gave
Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
