FIELD STUDY CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND LEARNING
1:
To reach your targets do the following tasks:
Observe a class
Using a checklist, find out the evident classroom components.
Describe how the classroom is structured/ designed to allow everyone to
participate in the learning activities.
Relate the data in your checklist to the learners’ behavior.
Reflect on how classroom management affects learning.
My Tools
Use the activity form provided for you to document your observations.
An observation Guide for the Learners’ Characteristics
Read the following statements carefully. Then write your observation
report on the provided space.
1. As you observe the class, look into the characteristics of the learners.
Note their ages.
As I have observed, the age of the learners do not vary talking about their
behavior and characteristics for the reason that I witnessed there are some
students who are very participative and cooperative in the class but there are
also students who do not involved themselves in class discussion and like to just
chat with their seatmates.
2. How many boys are there? How many girls?
There are 30 boys and 25 girls with the total of 55 students.
3. Focus on their behavior. Are they already able to manage their own
behavior?
Some of them can managed their own behavior already by showing total
self- discipline especially when it comes to class discussion but there are also
some students who like to wait for their teacher to remind them to stop doing
things.
4. Can the learners already work independently?
3 Episode 3- Classroom Management and Learning
FIELD STUDY CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND LEARNING
1:
Of course yes, they can handle and accomplished task it if is only self-
clarifying but some of them can no longer worked independently when it comes
to a serious type of task which needs the guidance and helped of others. And
some just don’t work independently they need to ask the teacher many times just
to understand the things that they will do.
5. Describe their span of attention.
The span of students’ attention depends on how the teacher motivates the
whole class. Just what other students says, they would only participate in the
class if the teacher is jolly and enthusiastic. But this may vary to the student’s
participation in class discussion.
6. Look into their listening skills and ability to concentrate.
Some of the students pay attention to their teacher; they lend their senses
every time the teacher is conducting a lesson. But there are others who don’t
even mind whether the teacher is giving the lesson.

1:
Be guided by these questions as you do your observation of the
classroom management. It is also good to ask the teacher for the additional
information so you can verify your observation. Write your notes below; and then
organize your data in the table that follows.
1. Are there areas in the classroom for specific purposes (storage of
teaching aids, books, students’ belongings, supplies, etc.?) Describe
these areas.
Yes, in the back of their classroom is the student’s locker where they keep
their own things. And also they have tables and shelves where they put their
books and other teaching materials.
2. Are there rules and procedures posted in the room?
Yes, there are rules and regulations posted in the room it is located in front of
the blackboard so that the students will remind if ever they commit mistakes.
3. Did the students participate in making the classroom rules? (Ask the
Resource Teacher)
No, the student’s didn’t participate in making the classroom rules only the
teacher makes their rules.
4. What are the daily routines done by the teacher? (Prayer, attendance,
assignment of monitors, warm-up activities. Etc.) How are they done?
The teacher starts the class with an opening prayer, followed by checking of
attendance, then the teacher asked the reason of the students who was absent,
then the teacher asked for someone in the class to give a simple recall of what
they have discussed from their previous meeting. And then, the teacher proceeds
to the discussion as the start of their new lesson.
5. Is there a seating arrangement? What is the basis of this arrangement?
No they don’t have seating arrangements all girls are seated left side of the
classroom and on the other side are the boys.
6. Observe the noise level in the classroom. How is this managed?

higher grade or scores.
My Analysis
1. How did the classroom organization and routines affect the learners’
behavior?
The classroom organization and routines affects the behavior of the learner’s
in their five human aspects. It is because when the classroom is organized and
routines are always done by the teacher and the students. Thus, those students
who don’t have higher attention before will gradually change especially for those
who are not fond of joining the activity made by the teacher.
2. What should the teacher have in mind when she/he designs the classroom
organization and routines? What theories and principles should you have
in mind?
I think the teacher should bear in his/her mind that daily organization and
routines depend on the age of the learner. The teacher should design routines
that fit to the students. The classroom organization will serve as a guide to
organize the flow of the classroom system. Routines will also develop their
personality like the spiritual aspect in prayer, physical aspect in exercise, mental
aspects in the form of recitation.

3. Which strategies were effective in managing the behavior of the learners?
In motivating students? Why were they effective?
In my own opinion, it is very effective when the teacher should be strict in
terms of class discussion because as I have observed, this could help the learner
to strive hard and to ensure themselves to participate in the discussion. And it is
also a matter of discipline for students who feel tired in school especially for
those students who are fond of “pawala lang” and not giving the value of how
education can change their lives and their future. Therefore, I can say that this is
very effective in motivating the attention of the students who have less able in
attention in the classroom.
My Reflections
1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what
grade/year level do you see yourself? What routines and procedures
would you consider for this level? Why?
I see myself teaching second year students. Similar to others, I will do the
same routines which are very applicable in my students. The routines that I will
consider for this level are the following: First, I will start my class with an opening
prayer, secondly, I will check their attendance; for me to know who are absent
and late, thirdly asking my students about the previous meeting discussion, then
I will ask him/her to give a brief explanation from the previous topic. And lastly, I
will proceed to the new topic to be discussed. If my students have no more
questions about the topic, subsequently I will give them a short quiz for me to
determine who among of the class understand the lessons clearly.
2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would
you choose these rules?
1).Eating during class hours is not allowed.
2.) Talking while the teacher is discussing is taboo.

3.) Students are not allowed to enter the class without wearing their proper
uniform and ID.
4.) Ignorance of the law excuses no one.
5.) Encourage the students to speak in English.
6.) Male students are not allowed to wear earrings and dangling in my
classroom.
7.) Both male and female students must observe personal hygiene and
neatness at all times.
8.) Male students must observe proper haircut
.9.) Students are entrusted when to clean the room before leaving.
10.) Students are not allowed to answer in chorus.
Well, I desired to choose these rules because I want to have a
harmonious classroom establishing rapport with unity, peace, and order between
me and my future students someday.
3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?
Absolutely yes, the students should be involved in making class rules and
regulations for the reason that they should be aware of such things also, in order
for the students to be well-oriented and have an idea already whatever sanctions
might be given if ever they will violate the said rules and implementations inside
the classroom.

Include here pictures of the classroom/s you observed. Write
descriptions/annotations about what you observed in each photo.
This is the supervisory corner of the
classroom where they keep the record. The
number of the girls and boys are being
recorded here and also it serves as the
attendance of the student every day.
These are the learners I observed from the advisory of my cooperating teacher.
They are from 3rd year Ruby they are so friendly and cooperative when it comes
to their discussion in class. As you can see in the picture their classroom is
organized and clean. They are not allowed to bring their shoes inside the room to
avoid dirt, they have individual slippers that they will use inside the room.
