adverbs are formed by adding “ly” to the adjective. A few words like for example, fast, hard, late,
and low, take the same form as both adjectives and adverbs. Write the correct form, adjective or
adverb, in the blanks.

6. Complete the blanks with a, an, the or zero (0).

A little note: Remember we use zero article (0) with plural nouns or with uncountable nouns and
to speak about things in general. Also, we use the zero article with towns and cities, most
countries, with “by” + a means of transportation, with times + days and with some phrases like for
example, go to work/at home, most people We use it to about things in general.

We use the indefinite article (a/an) before countable singular nouns and with jobs. a/an=one, but
we don’t know which one. We also use a/an, when this is the first time we are speaking about
something.

We use the definite article (the) before nouns when it is clear that the speaker is talking about
something specific or something which we know. We also use it with time of day (but we say “at
night”).

One day, Marty went out to buy (a) __a__ newspaper. He saw (b)__a___ competition in (c) __0__
