INTRODUCTION
Liquefied petroleum gas, also known as propane, butane, or a combination of
the two, is referred to as "Liquefied Petroleum Gas" or "LPG." Although propane and
butane are chemically relatively similar, their tiny changes in characteristics make
them more suited for particular tasks. In order to achieve the highest energy yields
and characteristics, propane and butane are frequently blended. LPG is used as a fuel
gas in heating appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles. (WLPGA, 2021).
The rising cost of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is an international problem,
which affects the Philippines as well. Major demand in the Philippines, the price of
LPG is changed monthly as opposed to the weekly changes in petroleum product
pump pricing. LPG costs dropped by P3.09 to P4.20 per kg and an 11-kilogram tank
of cooking gas cost far more than P120, which surprised buyers (Lagare, 2023). With
these problem Filipino homes are directly impacted by the increasing cost of gas.
Already, several families are having difficulty making ends meet. The majority of
consumer goods and services are directly impacted by rising gas prices, which go
beyond for cooking and transportation (Metrobank, n.d.).
Fossil fuel use has been essential to the growth of human civilization, driving
economies, industries, and communities for more than a century. Fossil fuels, such as
coal, oil, and natural gas, have been crucial to advancing civilization, but they have
also brought difficult problems (Nunez, 2021).
Psidium Guajava L. ( guava trees ) undergo regular abscission, just like many
other deciduous tree leaves, wherein plants lose their leaves, blooms, or fruits. This
natural process often happens in reaction to environmental cues such variations in
temperature, sunshine hours, or moisture levels. Guava trees, naturally shed their
leaves when the seasons change because they are deciduous plants (Patharkar &
Walker, 2019).
Trees can conserve water and energy by shedding their leaves. Hormones in
trees cause the process of abscission, in which the leaves are actively cut off from the
tree by specialized cells, to occur as adverse weather approaches (Conners, 2017).
Dried Guava Leaves (Psidium Guajava L.) can be used to make charcoal briquettes,
which are a renewable energy source.
Binder is applied to the surface of the charcoal briquettes to improve
adherence and create uniform briquettes. In the briquette process, finely ground
charcoal made from sawdust and other by-products of wood is crushed into briquettes
together with a binder that aids in briquette burning (Machines, 2018). Because these
agro-waste-derived charcoal briquettes can produce alternative energy sources, there
will be more energy available and less demand for non-renewable energy sources.
Additionally, as the exceptional collecting of wood for fuel has led to deforestation in
densely populated places, it can aid in solid waste management and improve the
environment. These charcoal briquettes from agro-wastes can generate alternative
sources of energy, as a result, demand for non-renewable energy sources will decline
and energy supply will increase (Abdu Zubairu*, Sadiq Abba Gana, 2019).
Guava trees ranked eighteenth (18 th) as the most common plants in the
province Oriental Mindoro (PictureThis, n.d.). It is expected that the source of guava
leaves won't quickly run out because it is common to see in Oriental Mindoro and will
also help us get more guava leaves we need. In addition to creating better
surroundings, this briquette-making will benefit the community as a whole, the
briquette producers as a source of income, and people who will consume the charcoal
briquettes.
