SERVICE FOR THE LORDS DAY October 9, 2011 ORGAN PRELUDE In Church Tchaikovsky
WORDS OF WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS CHORAL INTROIT *CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good. People: The Lords steadfast love endures forever. Leader: Who can declare all of Gods praise? All: Blessed are those who follow the Lord and worship him with their whole lives! *HYMN Ancient Words (see insert) *PRAYER OF CONFESSION Eternal God, as our ancestors exchanged the glory of the Lord for the image of a golden calf, so we exchange the blessings of covenant relationship for temporal pleasures and seeming security. We exchange the intimacy of prayer - the gift of joy in your presence - for the diversion of things and activities that can overwhelm us. We exchange lives of honor and righteousness for disobedience, faithlessness, and greed. God of mercy, forgive us. Guide us to respond to you in faith and live as your chosen people. *MOMENTS FOR SILENT, PERSONAL CONFESSION *ASSURANCE OF PARDON *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles Creed (back cover of bulletin) *GLORIA PATRI (back cover of bulletin)

Ancient Words
Michael W. Smith CCLI #2429906 Holy words long preserved for our walk in this world, They resound with God's own heart Oh, let the Ancient words impart. Words of Life, words of Hope Give us strength, help us cope In this world, where e'er we roam Ancient words will guide us Home. CHORUS: Ancient words ever true Changing me, and changing you. We have come with open hearts Oh let the ancient words impart. Holy words of our Faith Handed down to this age. Came to us through sacrifice Oh heed the faithful words of Christ. Holy words long preserved For our walk in this world. They resound with God's own heart Oh let the ancient words impart. CHORUS x2 We have come with open hearts Oh let the ancient words impart.
