OMG Ducks!

Hat

I originally designed this hat for my little sister. She wore


it to death, and after being asked a million times where she got
it I have finally gotten the pattern down for public
consumption. Pattern includes color charts and written
instructions. I hope you love the hat as much as she does!
Finished Size

Materials

Yarn
Cascade 220 Superwash in the following colors (1 ball each):
Color A: 850-Lime Sherbert
Color B: 801-Army Green
Color C: 847-Caribbean
Color D: 877-Tangerine
Color E: 1926-Doeskin Heather
Needles
US6 straight or circular needles
Notions
2 stitch holders. Tapestry needle for seam. Crochet hook size G
for edging.
Gauge
5sts = 1 inch

M1R Make one right. With the needle coming from back to
front, pick up the bar between the stitch you just
knit and the stitch you are about to knit. Knit that
bar, then knit the next stitch. (1 stitch made)

M1L Make one left. With the needle coming from front to
back pick up the bar between the stitch you just knit
and the stitch you are about to knit and knit through
the back loop.

Slm Slip marker from the left needle to the right needle.
CDD Center double decrease: slip 2 together to right
needle as if to K2tog. K1, pass slipped sts over that
stitch. 3 decreased to 1.

break yarn. Place sts from second earflap onto needles with

right side facing. CO 21 sts.

R1: Knit across all sts.

R2: K2 P1 across.

R3: (right side) Join color A. Following chart B: P2 with color

B, K1 with color A across.

R4: (wrong side) K2 color B, P1 color A.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 three more times (total of 8 times).

Hat Body

Set Up row: (RS) Knit across all sts.

R1: P3 color A, *P2 Color C, P2 color A. Repeat from * across

to last 5 sts. P2 color C, P3 color A.

R2: K3 color A. *K2 Color C, K2 Color A. Rep from * across to

last 5 sts. K2 Color C and K3 Color A.

For all remaining rows on chart C: Knit the first and last 3 sts

with color B on every right side row (this is so you can seam

the piece later without interrupting the pattern) and purl the

first and last 3 sts with color B of every wrong side row. The

chart is worked over the 120 sts between these first and last 3

sts. Chart is repeated 6 times across.

R3: K3 color A. *K3 color B, K1 color D, K1 B, K1 D, K7 B, K1 D,

Break yarn leaving a long tail. Pull tail through all sts on
needle and pull tight. Use this tail to seam down the back of
the hat. Using color D crochet around edge of brim and earflaps
beginning and ending at the seam on the back. Weave in ends and
enjoy!
