The Company
• Unipower AB offers products and smart grid information systems for Power Quality assessment, reducing unnecessary energy
losses and network disturbances. Originating from a Swedish ABB company in the middle 80's, Unipower has developed a
competitive edge within the field of Power Quality.
• Product line reach from traditional portable PQ analyzers to fully integrated and automated Power Quality Management systems
The Company for continuous supervision of the energy supply according to national and international norms.
• The core business is built around a sophisticated software with corresponding measure units/analyzers that can be either
permanent mount or portable. Today all products are only sold under the Unipower brand.
• The company holds a patent for their software relating to an algorithm and method.
• The software - PQ Secure Power Quality Management System - provides the ultimate norm-compliant (IEC 61000-4-30 Class A)
solution for comprehensive and user-friendly continuous remote access to all power quality parameters.
The software • PQ Secure is the key tool used by utilities in many countries for the management of Power Quality in their networks. Moreover, in
addition to norm-compliant monitoring of the quality of the power supplied to the customers, PQ Secure can also diagnose
potential problems within an end user’s own installation.

power network is network, logging all critical parameters for later evaluation and problem solving and automatically transferring all data from site to
top of the line in the the head office database. All measurements are easily compared and analyzed in accordance with existing international power
market quality standards. By giving the customer a complete track record of their power network status, PQ Secure is an effective tool for
rapid improvement of the power quality.
1 • Measuring devices is e.g. the UP-2210 Power Quality Monitor, an IEC 61000-4-30 Class A reference instrument, which are
permanently installed at site and continuously measure all power quality parameters in the network, automatically detecting all PQ
problems.
• The advanced Digital Signal Processing within the UP-2210, combined with the Adaptive PLL (Phase Locked Loop), gives a
Measuring devices measurement accuracy that is unrivalled.
• It is also possible to integrate portable Unilyzer 902 and Unilyzer 900/900c analyzers into the PQ Secure system. This will enable
the user to measure at more network sites, thus giving an improved and even more complete view of the power quality in the
network.

PQ Secure – Power Quality management system
2 • The PQ Secure software package is a powerful and effective tool for presenting and analyzing the PQ status and pinpointing
occurred PQ phenomena. The software is an extremely powerful management platform based on an open SQL database,
offering scheduling functions and event viewing in addition to analysis and norm evaluation capability. The PQ Secure software
package includes these main modules:
1) PQ Online: software that is used for remote configuration of individual measuring devices directly from head office. It is also
used for real-time analysis and manual download of measurement data.
2) PQ Schedule: software that manages the automatic communication between measuring devices and the database. It polls the

software package
3) PQ Secure: software that includes:
a) System administration tools; meter information, grouping of meters, user administration, alarm settings, limit settings
etc.
b) Event list, provides extensive information about all events registered in the system and measuring devices.
c) Powerful graphical analysis tool, lets the user do in-depth analysis of all the power quality parameters.
d) Report generator, lets the user generate reports according to international and national norms, such as EN 50160, IEC
61000-2-2, IEC 61000-2-12 etc. Unipower can also design customized reports for use with PQ Secure’s report
generator.
3 • There are several alternatives for communication between measuring devices and the head office database. Measuring devices
can be equipped with RS-232, RS-485, built-in modems and Ethernet ports.
Communication • This means that communication is possible using a range of media, such as standard telephone modems, signal cables, GPRS,
options GSM modems, local computer networks etc. Different measuring devices can use different communication options within the same
system, creating a highly flexible communication solution.
• The UP-2210 also supports Modbus communication via a Floating point register.
• For the portable instruments (the 900 series) there is also a manual PQ Secure system called “Light”. In this system the
PQ Secure light
automation and database are not included. Instead the user works with measurement files and makes analyzes manually.

The market
• The market Unipower is active in is increasing for two reasons:
The market is • First – the increasing use of non-linear loads are causing more and more disturbances in the electrical grid at the same
increasing for two time as equipment installed becomes increasingly sensitive.
main reasons • Secondly there is a global trend towards implementation of national grid codes requiring transmission and distribution
companies to measure Power Quality to assure the quality of their network.
• Unipower’s technical position is very strong. Unipower is the only company on the market that is strong on all five core
competences necessary for an efficient Power Quality Management System – see scheme on p13.
Unipower’s • By combining high-performance and norm compliant hardware with an analysis software that can be tailor made towards national
grid codes and an extremely efficient database structure that is also manageable as a cloud service
