Lab Module 3

The document is a laboratory practical report for a Computer Aided Drafting course. It details two tasks completed by the student - creating a 2D drawing using circles, lines, and arrays, and modifying layers and linetypes. The objectives were to practice 2D drawing commands in AutoCAD, modify objects, insert the drawing into a title block, and print to scale. The procedures describe the steps taken to construct circles, lines, fillets, offsets, and trim commands to build the required drawings within the title block format.

INTRODUCTION
AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software application created by the
company Autodesk. Many engineers use AutoCAD to design an object before they printed it
using 3D printer or construct it. The software allowed you to create 2D and 3D drawing. The
software also helped you to drawing the object faster and more accurate compare to hand
drawing.
2D dimension shape also can be call flat shape. It contains length and width. 2D dimension
doesn’t have volume and thickness. Circle and rectangle are an example of 2D dimension.
OBJECTIVE
 Practice and perform draw 2D Lines drawing and combination of line structure.
 Modifying commands such as POLYGON, ROTATE, TRIM, EXTEND,EXPLODE,
POLAR ARRAY, ADD LAYER, LINETYPE and JOIN.
 Insert a drawing into titleblock.
 Print a drawing to scale
PROCEDURE
TASK 1
Step 1
Command line to create rectangle with 10 inches length and 7 inches width.
Use coordinate (0,0) as basepoint.

Step 2
Command rectangle and specify the first corner point in the rectangle.
Choose [Dimensoins] or type D
Specify length for rectangles : 2
Specify width for rectangles : 5
Click Enter
Step 3
Command fillet and choose [Radius] or type R.
Specify fillet radius : 0.5
Choose the first line and fourth line of rectangle and click Enter.
Repeat this step with the third line and fourth line.

Step 4
Command circle and choose midpoint of second line of rectangle for center point of circle.
Specify radius of circle : 1.5
Click Enter
Command circle and choose center of arc as the center point of circle.
Click [Diameter] or type D
Specify diameter of circle: 0.4
Click Enter.
Repeat this command with another arc

Command trim and erase the unwanted parts.

Step 5
Command circle and choose the center point parallel with the center point of rectangle.
Click [Diameter] or type D
Specify diameter of circle: 3.0
Click Enter.
Repeat this step with the diameter of circle: 1.0

Step 6
Command line and choose the center of circle as the first point.
Specify next point: 0.9 and verticle
Click Enter
Command offset.
Specify offset distance: 0.2
Click at the line to make another line with 0.2 inches at the left and right.
Click Enter

Command line and connect all the line.

Click Enter
Command trim and erase unwanted parts.
Click Enter

Step 7
Marks all the center of the circle.
Step 8
Click the Layer properties and add new layer. Type Dimension for the name of that layer and
choose colour for that layer. Press enter.
Use the same method for and the object to change it is colour.

Step 9
Select all the drawing and move it to the titlebock.
The drawing should show inside the titleblock.
Save the drawing.
TASK 2
Step 1
Command line to create rectangle with 10 inches length and 7 inches width.
Use coordinate (0,0) as basepoint.

Step 2
Command circle
Specify center point of circle: center of the rectangle
Click [Diameter] or type D
Specify diameter of circle: 1.00
Click Enter
Repeat this step with the diameter of circle: 1.50,2.50, 4.00 and 5.14
Step 3
Command line and choose the center of circle as the first point.
Specify next point: 3 and verticle
Click Enter

Command offset
Specify offset distance: 0.25
Click Enter
Click at the line to make another line at the left and right
Click Enter
Command circle and choose the intersection between middle line and third circle as the center
point
Specify radius of circle: 0.25
Click Enter

Command trim and erase unwanted parts

Step 4
Command array
Select the selected object and click Enter

Enter array type: Polar

Specify center point of array: center of circle
Click Enter
Step 5
Command line and choose the center of circle as the first point.
Specify next point: 3 and horizontal
Click Enter
Command circle and choose the intersection between the line and the fifth circle as the center
point
Specify radius of circle: 0.90
Click Enter

Command trim and erase unwanted parts

Step 6
Command array
Select the arc of circle and click Enter
Enter array type: Polar
Specify center point of array: center of circle
Click Enter

Command trim and erase unwanted parts

Step 7
Command line and choose the center of the circle as the first point
Specify next point: 3 and verticle
Repeat this step to make another line as the figure below

Step 8
Click the Layer properties and add new layer. Type Dash Line for the name of that layer and
choose colour for that layer. Change the linetype to ISO Dash. Press enter.
Set this layer as the main layer.
Command circle
Specify center point of circle: center of the rectangle
Click [Diameter] or type D
Specify diameter of circle: 2.50
Click Enter
