INTRODUCTION:
The country, India in which we born and brought up was under the British rule up
to 1947. There were many leaders who lost everything in the fighting with Britishers,
for the sake of country. I want to conduct this project to know about them and their
sacrifices.
COLLECTION OF INFORMATION:
I collected the information from the essays like ‘History of Indian National
Movement, 1947, Greatness of Independent India’ etc., and from internet about the
national leaders and their fighting spirit. I formulated all these information in the
form of a small album.
THE GREAT INDIAN LEADERS:
Mangal Pande :
Leader of 1857 Sepoy’s Mutiny. He was a courageous sepoy who fought against the
Britishers. Mangal Pande who belonged to 34 Bettalion, killed an English Officer at
Barrackpur centre on 1857 March 29. Getting angry with this, Britishers hanged him
on April 8.
Rani Lakshmi Bai:
Lakshmi Bai, was a famous women ruler who fought against the Britishers bravely.
She ruled the kingdom Jhansi' very efficiently as she did not have male child.
Due to the annexation of her kingdom by Dulhousie, she fought against the
Britishers. She died on 1858 June 18, in the battle field itself.
Gopala Krishna Gokhale :
Indian National Congress (INC) was formed in 1885. We can divide the activities of
INC into three phases. Gopala Krishna Gokhale lead the first phase called Moderate
phase. He was famous as leader of national movement and also as political guru of
Mahatma Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi:
He was the Father of the Nation, famous non- violent leader who fought against the
Britishers with his weapons peace and non-violence. His real name is Mohan Das
Karam Chand Gandhi. He was born on 1869 October 2 and led the INC activities
from 1920-1947. He also lead many movements like Non-cooperation Movement in
1920-22, Salt Satyagraha in 1930, Quit India Movement in 1942 and finally got
independence for India in 1947.
Chandra Sekhar Azad :
These were the young revolutionaries who fought against the Britishers. They lost
their lives at an younger age because of death sentence. Along with these there were
many leaders like Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagath Singh, Rajguru, Jawaharlal
Nehru and from Andhra Sarojini Naidu, Tanguturi Prakasham Pantulu, Durgabai
Deshmukh, Konda Venkatappaiah, Gaadicherla Hari Sarvottama Rao, Alluri
Sitarama Raju etc.
ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION:
Due to the information collected above, patriotism developed much more in me. We
came to understand that due to the sacrifices of the great personalities, now we are
living freely and independently.
CONCLUSION:
I wish to fight for the country by taking these great persons as ideal, their fighting
spirit, patriotism, selfless sacrifice etc.
