Dying to Live
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 TPT
23 I have handed down to you what came to me by direct revelation from the
Lord himself. The same night in which he was handed over, he took bread 24
and gave thanks. Then he distributed it to the disciples and said, “Take it and eat
your fill…
● He wants us to eat of Him until we’re full- continuously filled to the full!
EAT THE WHOLE HOG! Like the Mexicans!
It's an invitation to receive His God-kind of life:
John 10:10 KJV
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am
come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.
Life- Zoe-GRK: the uncreated, eternal life of God, the divine life uniquely
possessed by God.
Abundantly- Perissos- GRK: exceeding some number or measure or rank
or need over and above, more than is necessary, superadded exceeding
abundantly, supremely, something further, more, much more than all, more
plainly superior, extraordinary, surpassing, uncommon, pre-eminence,
superiority, advantage, more eminent, more remarkable, more excellent…
Jesus didn’t give up His life (Zoe, Bios and Psuche) so that we could
continue to have a poverty-mindset and an orphan-spirit! He came that we
might have His abundant life abundantly!
His abundance is far more than material riches! It's the supernatural,
super-powerful life of God Himself, which will affect everything else in our
lives!
(1Cor.11:24) …It is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.”
● When we have communion, we partake, we eat and drink His body and
blood in order to not only re-call His death, but to receive His ZOE Life into
us. Re-member, not only means bring back to mind, it also means to place
back a part into the whole- HE IS US AND US IN HIM! THE MYSTERY OF
UNION
25 He did the same with the cup of wine after supper and said, “This cup seals
the new covenant with my blood. Drink it—and whenever you drink this, do it to
remember me.” 26 Whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are
retelling the story, proclaiming our Lord’s death until he comes.
Why are we to remember and commemorate His death? His death was
necessary for us to receive His life! There can be no resurrection without a death
first!
Our commemoration of the Death of Jesus in both the communion and Easter
Friday is our proclaiming of His death on the Cross- a death absolutely
necessary in order for us to enter into God’s Zoe Life!
Romans 6:6-11 MSG
6-11 Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with
Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer captive to sin’s
demands! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering
death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when
Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end.
Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down
with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way:
Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother
tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God.
That’s what Jesus did.
Altar Call to receive Jesus, red-dedicate your life
Opportunity for us all to give God thanks for sending Jesus to die for us!
