I walked down the street, my eyes fell on a 2-3year old boy sitting besides her
dead mother crying and yelling ‘maa-aaa wake up’ gathering all of his strength.
This is just a scene of many after riots happening everyday where some people
set out to butcher others only because their “God asked them for help to
protect himself.” No we don’t think that almighty needs their help for his
protection.
Religion and caste discrimination
# A famous dialogue from pk movie “where is the stamp” to prove I belong to a
particular religion and caste.
# No stamp by God, but still humans are still here to fight that they belong to
this religion and it’s the best of all, I can prove it with an AK47 or maybe a
grenade.
#Although the Constitution of India prohibits discrimination based on religion
yet religious violence in India are frequent, sometimes even involving the
function of government.
# The root cause of this discrimination is the unfortunate politics; dividing
people on a particular basis makes it easier for them to keep a record of their
vote bank.
# Several protests take place across the country and world but all these fell on
deaf ears.
# Hindus being dominated, killed, raped in Kashmir, muslims being butchered
in riots of Gujrat, Christians still considered as outsiders, Sikhs’ cries during the
1984 anti-Sikh roits are the worst unwashable stains on mother India.
Gender inequality
*Gender inequality has been a crucial social issue in India for centuries. Census
2011 shows the child sex ratio among children of 0-6 years to be 918 girls for
every 1000 boys in India. This statistic speaks for itself and demands urgent
and efficient solutions to address the cause of gender inequality.
* The discrimination starts from even before the girl child is born. In many
instances, she is prevented from being born. The girl child is considered a
burden. She is often deprived of the basic rights and equal opportunities to
lead a wholesome childhood and adult life.
*Patriarchal norms hold back many girls from striving for their dreams by
receiving a quality education, medical facilities and overall awareness for their
well-being.
*On one side, males are given more pay while on the other side females are
subjected to harresment and sextual abuse.
*Another harsh yet important truth is that the transgenders are’nt even taken
into account.
*Since birth, girls are stereotyped to play with dolls; not step out alone after 7
and all the bla-bla.
Causes of gender inequality:
+Poverty –
This is the root cause of gender discrimination in the patriarchal Indian society,
as the economic dependence on the male counterpart is itself a cause of
gender disparity. A total of 30% of people live below the poverty line, and out
of this 70% are women.
+Illiteracy –
Gender discrimination In India had led to educational backwardness for girls.
It’s a sad reality that despite educational reforms in the country, girls in India
are still denied a chance at learning. The mindset needs to be changed, and
people need to understand the benefits of educating girls. An educated, well-
read woman ensures that other members, especially the children of the house,
get a quality education.
+Patriarchal setup in our Indian society –
Men dominate societal and family life in India. This has been the case in the
past ages and continues to be practised in the majority of households. Though
this mindset is changing with urbanization and education, there is still a long
way to permanently change the scenario.
+Social Customs, Beliefs and Practices –
To date, a lot of families have a preference for a male child and disfavour
towards the daughter. Sons, especially in the business communities, are
considered economic, political, and ritual assets where daughters are
considered liabilities.
+Lack of Awareness Among Women –
Most of the women are unaware of their fundamental rights and capabilities.
They lack a basic understanding of how the socio-economic and political forces
affect them. They accept all discriminatory practices that persist in families
from generation in the name of tradition and societal norms primarily due to
their ignorance and unawareness.
Colour discrimination
*Our skin colour does not need to define our potentials, our skills, our ability in
short us.
* Denying someone anything just because he or she has a dark complexion is in
no way tolerable.
* By what do you accept in a world where complete market of cosmetics is
based on one principal “SKIN COLOR MATTERS EVERYWHERE AND
EVERYTIME”
* Joke ::: “Indians don’t need degrees for success, they get success by being
fair, having silky hair and of course wearing white washed by ‘RIN’”
*Black girl is at times considered a heavy burden on family because the family
will have to give more dowry during her marriage.
Conclusion
God never made everybody in the same mould, and that’s the best part. But
we stupid creatures so called ‘The smartest’ instead of appreciating this
diversity only fight among ourselves claiming us to be different, unique and the
best. We don’t feel how anybody looks or wears describes his potential or
gives me freedom to pre-judge as per my standards.
