Cooking - Steaming

The purpose of steaming is to get rid of air inside and outside the chips before
the cooking chemicals can start – this to get a good distribution of the liquor
inside the chips during the impregnation.

• To get a homogeneous pulp it is important to have the same treatment of all


chips.
• During the impregnation liquor is added to the chips. The liquor have extra
time (compared with a single vessel digester) to be distributed to all parts of
the chip piece before full cooking temperature is reached.
• Good steaming provides for a good distribution of the liquor inside the chips.

O2 Delignification

Purpose :

The degree of delignification (reduction of


kappa number) achieved in the oxygen
delignification system is controlled by the
application of chemicals and by the control of
the process conditions in the two reactors.

Chemicals
• Oxidized white liquor (or NaOH), applied in
the preceding brown stock washing dilution
conveyor.
• Oxygen, applied in the mixer

Process Conditions
• Pulp consistency entering the first reactor
• Temperature in both reactors
• Pressure in both reactors
• pH entering the second reactor
• Final pH after the second reactor

Tujuan :

Melarutkan dan membuang


komponen-komponen yang berwarna
dalam pulp terutama lignin.

Memutihkan sisa substansi yang


berwarna dalam pulp sehingga pulp
meningkatkan derajat putoh
(brightness).
