Bahrain
United Nations Security Council
Security council mandate for a peacekeeping solution to the Israel-
Palestine conflict
Bahrain stands before this committee with a strong commitment to achieving a lasting and
just peace in the Israel-Palestine conflict. We understand the gravity of this situation and the
urgent need for a peaceful resolution that respects the rights, security, and dignity of both
Israelis and Palestinians. We acknowledge that the Security Council has a pivotal role in
maintaining international peace and security, and thus, we advocate for a comprehensive,
two-state solution as the only path to lasting peace. Bahrain is fully committed to the
principles of the United Nations and supports a peaceful, negotiated settlement that respects
the sovereignty, borders, and rights of both Israel and Palestine.
Bahrain has consistently pursued a peaceful and diplomatic approach in addressing the Israel-
Palestine issue. In September 2020, Bahrain made a historic step by signing the Abraham
Accords, normalising relations with Israel. This agreement, along with similar normalisation
agreements with other Arab states, sent a strong signal that diplomatic solutions are possible.
We believe in the importance of dialogue and cooperation as key elements in reaching a just
and lasting peace. Bahrain has also been a vocal supporter of the Palestinian people's right to
self-determination, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian
state with East Jerusalem as its capital. We have contributed humanitarian aid and
development assistance to Palestinian communities, recognizing the hardships they have
endured.
Bahrain supports the idea of a Security Council mandate for a peacekeeping solution in the
Israel-Palestine issue. Peacekeepers from diverse, unbiased countries can play a crucial role
in maintaining ceasefires, protecting civilians, and creating the conditions for meaningful
negotiations, prioritizing the protection of civilians, ensuring access to humanitarian aid, and
facilitating a conducive environment for negotiations. Additionally, we call for a resumption
of direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority based on internationally
recognized parameters, including the 1967 borders with mutually agreed land swaps, the right
of return, security guarantees, and a fair and just resolution of the status of Jerusalem. We
encourage both parties to commit to the negotiation process and refrain from actions that
undermine trust. Furthermore, Bahrain advocates for increased economic development and
regional cooperation, fostering stability and prosperity in the region, building mutual trust,
and providing incentives for peace.+
