         INDICATION
For the active immunisation of healthy dogs, cats, cattle, sheep, goats, ferrets, foxes and
horses (and in principle all healthy mammals) against Rabies. Nobivac Rabies can be used
for both prophylactic (pre-exposure) immunisation and for post-bite treatment (post –
         exposure prophylaxis).
NB-Post-bite treatment (post –exposure prophylaxis) should not be used as an alternative,
to avoid vaccinating animals prophylactically (pre-exposure). It is recommended that all
animals at risk of exposure are vaccinated prophylactically. Post-bite treatment (post –
exposure prophylaxis) should be carried out under strict supervision of a registered
         veterinary practitioner only.
         VACCINATION SCHEME – PROPHYLAXIS (PRE-EXPOSURE)
                                          Dogs/Cats Cattle/Horses Ferrets
                                                             Sheep/Goats
          Primary vaccination at 3 months * 6 months* 3 months *
          an age of more than
          Revaccination every 3 years ** 2 years** 1 year **
Route of administration IM or SC IM SC
          * Primary vaccination can be administered at an earlier age, but then a repeat
vaccination must be given at the age of 3 or 6 months depending on the species.
** Recommended revaccination interval is based upon results from challenge experiments.
Local regulations in force may require earlier revaccination
Results from serological investigations indicate that vaccination of sheep, goats and foxes
provides protection for at least one year.
         VACCINATION SCHEME – POST-BITE TREATMENT (POST-EXPOSURE
         PROPHYLAXIS)
In all species, repeated single doses of vaccine should be administered (by the above
recommended route) according to the following schedule.

         Dose no. Timing
1st Day 0 (as soon as possible following bite/exposure)
         2nd Day 3
         3rd Day 7
         4th Day 14
         5th Day 28
IMPORTANT: Vaccination leads to a high peak of antibody levels within 3
weeks. Whilst post-bite treatment (post exposure prophylaxis) will, if
administered promptly, protect the majority of exposed animals from developing
Rabies, as with any post infection treatment, it remains possible that disease may
still occur in individual cases. It is therefore vitally important that owners are
informed about this and that they are advised to monitor their animal closely for
any signs of disease for the remainder of the incubation period. Should any
suspicious signs appear, the animal should be treated as potentially rabid, and
immediate veterinary advice should be sought.
         DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
1 ml subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.
         • Shake well before use.

         • Use sterile needle and syringe.
Note - Nobivac Rabies can be used to reconstitute the freeze-dried Nobivac canine vaccines
and can be administered in combination with Nobivac Lepto.
For 10 dose presentation, broached vials should be used within one working day.
         VACCINATION REACTIONS
After subcutaneous administration occasionally a transient palpable nodule may occur at
         the site of injection.
Generalised hypersensitivity reactions following administration may occasionally occur. In
this event administration of Adrenaline injection by the subcutaneous route may be indicated.
         IMMUNITY
In dogs, peak antibody titres have been demonstrated to occur by 3 weeks after
         vaccination.
