Lesson Title: My Family Tree
Skills: reading, speaking, listening, writing

Class Management: Pair work, Individual work

Material used: Audio track, digital textbook, worksheets

STUDENTS’ PROBLEMS : There will be explanations in Romanian.

Objectives: By the end of the lesson the students will be able:

1. to describe the family members;


2. to write words related to family;
3. to understand information related to family members ;

Competences

Students talk about family relations;

Students ask and answer about their families;

Lesson stages

Checking the previous homework : Workbook ex 1, 2 page 26 (5 minutes)

Warm-up: Teacher shows the students some family cards. Teacher presents her family. Teacher
asks students about their families.
Have got a brother? Have you got a grandmother? What’s her name? Ana’s grandmother is
Mary.
Have you got a sister?
(5 minutes)

Activity 1: Teacher writes the title on the board and the members of the family. Teacher asks the
students about the members of the family.Teacher writes the family members on the board.
Students write the family members in their notebooks. (5 minutes)
On the board:
mother/father(parents)grandmother/grandfather(grandparents),brother/sister(siblings),
uncle/aunt, cousin, son/daughter, relatives, grandson/granddaughter. The students repeat the
words .

Activity 2
Pupils look at the family tree in their Pupil’s book. The teacher tells the students to read the
sentences and after this the teacher plays the recording and pupils complete the four sentences
individually. Teacher checks their answers.(10 minutes)

Activity 3
The teacher sticks a family tree on the board and gives the students a family tree, too. The
students write about their families then. they present their family at the front of the class. The
students ask questions about other students’ families. ( 10 minutes)
What is your mother’s name? My mother’s name is…

Activity 4
Teacher tells the students to close their books. The teacher writes some of the family words on
the board with the letters in scrambled order. Pupils take turns to come up with the words. The
rest of the class can help by calling out the words.( 10 minutes)

Feedback and evaluation The teacher congratulates the students and gives them homework
(Workbook ex 5 page 27) (5 minutes)
