HEALTH AND WELLNESS, WELLNESS and GOOD PROPER HYGIENE

Health and wellness are essential for living a long, happy, and fulfilling life. However,
many people do not fully understand what health and wellness mean or how to achieve them.
There are many things we can do to achieve health and wellness, including eating a balanced and
nutritious diet, getting regular exercise, getting enough sleep, managing stress effectively,
building healthy relationships, and engaging in activities that provide purpose and meaning. It is
also important to get regular health checkups and screenings to identify and address any potential
health problems early.
Being healthy is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely
the absence of disease or infirmity. This means that being healthy does not mean never getting
sick. In fact, sickness is a normal response of the body to foreign bacteria. A common
misconception is that being healthy means "walay sakit" or no sickness. However, the opposite is
true. If the body does not react to bacteria that can cause harm, it means that the body is immune
or does not have enough agents to fight off those foreign bacteria.
This topic focuses on the need for health examinations, achieving a healthy mind,
identifying preventive measures against mental disorders, and discussing the changes brought by
aging. Aside from mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health, financial health also
contributes to overall health, according to medical experts. A survey found that people with
better financial health may worry less and have the means to buy fresh food regularly, which is
necessary for physical health. People with spiritual health also tend to have good mental health.
There are two factors that contribute to good health: genetic factors and environmental
factors. Genetic factors are the genes that a person is born with from their bloodline. These genes
can cause a person to develop genetic diseases. Environmental factors are the things in a person's
environment that can trigger or cause illness.
Preserving health involves living a healthy lifestyle and helping your body to address
health problems rather than waiting until sickness and infirmity address them.

Wellness is the optimal state of health of individuals and groups. It is a holistic approach
to health that encompasses physical, mental, and social well-being. Wellness is not just the
absence of disease or infirmity; it is about living a life that is fulfilling and meaningful. Wellness
promotes active awareness of and participating in measures that preserve health, both as an
individual and in the community. Maintaining wellness and optimal health is a lifelong, daily
commitment.
Steps that can help people attain wellness include:
 eating a balanced, nutritious diet from as many natural sources as possible
 engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate to high-intensity exercise every
week, according to the American Heart Association
 screening for diseases that may present a risk
 learning to manage stress effectively
 engaging in activities that provide purpose
 connecting with and caring for other people
 maintaining a positive outlook on life
 defining a value system and putting it into action
Every person has different health goals and attaining these goals implicates that you have
peak health wherein a person should do as much as they can do to develop resilience and
prepared the body and mind to deal with illness as they arise.
Wellness includes physical, mental, emotional, environmental, occupational, social,
intellectual, and spiritual aspects, as well as the absence of illness. Wellness is unique to
everyone, but it consists of some balance between these concepts.
Physical wellness is taking necessary steps to maintain optimal health and functioning,
such as participating in physical activity and maintaining proper nutrition. Emotional wellness
includes stress management, self-care, relaxation, and understanding and managing your
emotions. Spiritual wellness refers to religion, values, faith, ethics, and morals. It is about finding
meaning, purpose, appreciation, and a guiding compass. Social wellness has to do with
relationships and interaction with others. It provides support, self-esteem, and connection.
Environmental wellness refers to the environment you live in and your relationship to it. It is
about having access to essential resources and avoiding harmful exposures. Occupational
wellness refers to how you interact with your job, how you perform, and your attitude towards it.
Intellectual wellness refers to creative activities, learning, and exploring new skills. It is about
keeping your mind active and engaged.
