1. Introduction
a) Purpose:
To ensure safe and proper procedures for the removal of waste at Lusikisiki Magistrate
Offices.
b) Scope:
This SOP covers the collection, segregation, and disposal of waste generated within the
premises.
2. Responsibilities
a) Waste Management Team: -
Designated personnel responsible for waste removal. - Ensure proper training and
understanding of waste handling procedures.
b) Staff: -
Segregate waste at the source as per guidelines. - Cooperate with the Waste
Management Team. - Report any incidents or issues related to waste management.
3. Waste Segregation
a) General Waste: -
Office paper, non-recyclable plastics, and other general waste. - Use black bins with
appropriate labeling.
b) Recyclable Waste: -
Paper, cardboard, plastics, and other recyclables. - Use blue bins with proper signage.

c) Hazardous Waste: -
Batteries, electronic waste, or any potentially harmful materials. - Follow specific
guidelines for hazardous waste disposal.
4. Collection and Storage
a) Regular Collection: -
Schedule regular waste collection according to the waste type. - Minimize storage time
to reduce potential hazards.
b) Secure Storage: -
Ensure waste storage areas are secure and inaccessible to unauthorized personnel. - Use
leak-proof containers for hazardous waste.
5. Handling Procedures
a) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): -
Wear gloves and other necessary PPE during waste handling. - Avoid direct contact with
waste.
b) Lifting Techniques: -
Lift heavy or awkwardly shaped waste items with proper techniques to prevent injuries.
6. Transport and Disposal
