Recently, as expressions with K, such as K-Pop, K-Mavies, K-Dramas, and K-Beauty,
spread across the entire globe, a passion for understanding Korea and learning Korean
is heating up everywhere. And as expected, the number of foreigners who are taking the
‘TOPIK exam to check on their Korean language skils is increasing steeply over the years.
In line with these trends, the question types and content of the TOPIK exam
continue to change, making it difficult for test takers to adapt to and prepare for the test.
Our authors, who have been teaching Korean language for a long time, first published
“Complete Guide to the TOPIK” in 2009, and re-published “Complete Guide to the TOPIK
(New Edition)” in 2014, a revised version that followed the new question types. This time,
we've published “Complete Guide to the TOPIK (3" Edition),” tailored to the newest TOPIK.
question types, in order for learners to be able to more perfectly prepare for the TOPIK
exam.
“Complete Guide to the TOPIK (3° Edition)” classifies the new question types and
explains strategies for solving them by type so that the task of finding the correct answers.
becomes easier for learners. In addition, new vocabulary is reinforced so that learners
can develop a precise and rich vocabulary. In particular, in this 3° Edition, we've prepared
special lectures introducing an overview and strategies for each section of the test so
that learners can understand the TOPIK exam in greater depth. By solving the practice
questions and mock tests in the textbook, and by improving their understanding of the
‘exam by watching the lecture videos, learners will quickly be able to reach a high score.
‘As you prepare for the TOPIK exam step by step through this book, | am certain that.
at some point, you will notice that not only your test scores but your listening skills and use
of Korean have noticeably improved. | hope that this book can serve as a faithful guide in
learners’ TOPIK preparations. | thank you for your passion for learning Korean, and I wish
you good results. | also give my thanks to Lee Ji-woon, who worked hard to make this
book with me, and to the editors of the Korean Book Publishing Department at Darakwon.

This book was written for students preparing for the TOPIK. It consists of Parts 1, 2 and 3, and students can
prepare for the actual test by analyzing the patterns of TOPIK questions that have appeared on previous
tests, understanding the characteristics of each question, and then solving practice questions and taking
mock tests. Students can also access MP3 files and free special lectures by the author via QR code or our
homepage, and use these to gain practical experience and enhance their understanding of TOPIK questions.
Part 1 selectively introduces the main question types that frequently
a "8 | appeared on the previous tests, analyzes their pattems, and presents key
0 strategy solutions and explanations. In addition, it presents not only the
words that appeared in the questions but also related supplemental ones,
helping test-takers expand their knowledge of vocabulary.
_ Part 2 analyzes question types other than
: = the core patterns already introduced in Part =
1, providing a more comprehensive picture
of TOPIK question trends to students
by suggesting strategies to solve each
question. In this revised edition, vocabulary
is also provided for practice questions.
Part 3 provides students with a real test simulation through two mock test.
sets. These mock tests will help students measure their ability in advance
to identify areas that require more attention than others, enabling them to
establish test-taking strategies such as proper time allocation.
Answers & Explanations In the appendix of the book,
you can check out the answers and explanations for
the practice questions and mock tests. Note that an
English translation for the listening and reading scripts
is provided for better understanding. In addition, this
revised edition provides a wealth of explanatory notes
and grammar and vocabulary explanations to help
learners prepare for TOPIK.xt Contents
