REJOICE! PRAY! GIVE THANKS!
Jesus Time
This week we learned about Moses and Pharaoh. (Exodus 14) We heard about the many plagues of Egypt and how Pharaoh continued to change his mind! God was with the people of Israel and is also with us! What a comfort! Next week we will hear about the Israelites traveling through the desert to the promise land!
Language
Our VOWEL this week was A! We had an amazing time practicing the long and short vowel sounds; thinking of words that begin with A and recognizing the vowel A in many, many words! In our JOURNALS we created A pictures, wrote words and worked in our Zero the Hero journal! The children have been doing a wonderful job writing words all by themselves! AR books and quizzes have been read and taken! Wonderful job by the children and you! Thank you for taking time at home to read it shows! AR goals for the 2nd quarter will be discussed at conferences. The children can still take quizzes, so keep bringing in those slips! J The reward for reaching the 1st quarter goal will be on Thursday, October 20th. The environmental print WORD WALL is looking good! Help your child look for words at home!
Math
What an exciting week! We counted to 40~with a special activity from Zero the Hero; we practiced creating and continuing patterns; enjoyed some new puzzles and have been practicing daily our number writing! Next week we will continue these concepts and review sorting by color, shape and size!

Science & Social Studies
We have discussed the season of fall and the changes it brings to the weather! This week we also practiced reading the 4 seasons of the year and talked about what happens during each season! We also had a wonderful opportunity this week to learn about apples! We enjoyed many non-fiction books, read our weekly reader, shared our favorite stories about apples (and apple treats) and discussed describing words for apples! Ask your child to describe an apple! J
Homework
What a great job everyone has been doing on homework calendars! In case you are wondering what pumpkin sequence cards are, it is the life cycle of a pumpkin. I hope that makes more sense. J
