Netiquettes
Netiquettes (Network and Etiquettes), often referred to as etiquette for the internet, and by
definition is the effective use of technology to communicate for both personal and professional
purposes. In simple words, Netiquettes are guidelines to proper or acceptable behavior when
using the Internet.
1. Stick to the rules of conduct online that you follow in real life. Remember that netiquettes
are still etiquettes. It is important to hold the same virtues and attitude towards people
online as if you are interacting with them real life. Refrain from making hate or offensive
comments, threatening and fighting with other people, and many more things that you
wouldn’t do in real life.
2. Think of the Person. When communicating online, it is important to consider the feelings
and emotion of the people you are talking to. Think before responding to avoid making
negative comments and be constructive and positive when making criticism. Remember
that Insults and threats on the internet may result to legal consequences.
3. Present your best side online. When communicating online it is really important to be
respectful, polite, and professional. Remember that what you do and how you act reflects
your character. Address people as appropriate, consider your grammar and choice of
words, and many more to create a positive impression of yourself to other people.
4. Know where you are on the Internet. In other words, consider if your behavior/ attitude is
appropriate for the platform. Sarcasm and the use humor is subjective, it is not for
everyone, therefore should be used with caution. It means that when you are in an
unfamiliar platform, be observant to properly adapt and converse with its members.
5. Respect the Privacy of Others. This rule applies not only to online communication but in
general life. Dot not share or forward information without the permission of the original
sender. This also applies to sharing private information, photos and videos.
6. Respect the Time and bandwidth of others. In simple term do not waste other people’s
time. Be concise and specific when communicating to others.
7. Forgive the mistakes of others. Everybody makes mistake, if someone made a minor
error like spelling or grammar mistakes, its best to just ignore it. However, if you feel the
need to correct their mistake point it out privately.
8. Do not abuse your authority. There are times when we have the higher authority
compared to others in an online forum. For example when hosting a meeting through
google classroom. And even though we have access to the private conversation between
two participants of a meeting. It is only right to not spy as it violates their privacy.
In conclusion, online etiquettes or netiquettes are important for a healthy online environment.
It promotes respectful and positive interaction between people and effective communication
online.

When creating a Content it's important to take these 3 components into Consideration:
1. Clarity and Communication: Content is the center of your presentation. It is what you want
your audience to understand, learn, or remember. Clear, informative, and well-organized content
is essential for effective communication.
2. Credibility: High-quality and well-researched content enhances your credibility and authority
as a presenter. It shows that you are knowledgeable and have put effort into creating a valuable
presentation.
3. Relevance: Content should be relevant to your audience's needs, interests, and expectations.
When the content is aligned with what your audience are looking for, they are more likely to
engage with your presentation.
2. Think about your slides (Visual Aids)
1. Key Points: Visual aids can help reinforce the main points of your presentation. Use
headlines, titles, or bullet points to highlight the important/most relevant messages.
2. Images and Graphics: High-quality images and graphics can make complex ideas more
understandable and engaging for your audience. Visuals should be directly related to your
content and should help illustrate concepts.
Charts and Graphs: When presenting data or statistics, charts, graphs, and tables are invaluable.
Diagrams and Models: Use diagrams or models to explain processes, systems, or relationships.
Proper Visual Aids are important as they provide a visual representation of information,
making it easier for the audience to understand and remember.
3. Color and Design Elements: Pay attention to the design and color scheme of your
visual aids. Consistency in design can make your presentation more visually appealing.
3. Focus on your audience: Different audiences have different preferences over visual aids,
communication style, and the overall delivery of your content. Taking these preferences into
consideration will increase the effectiveness of your presentation and will encourage audience
participation.
