and Product bulletins are reviewed and implemented.
General, visual inspection of the equipment.

Disassembly inspection.

Abnormal noise.

Check for abnormal noise from swivel during normal operation.
Top shaft Seals.

Check for leakage on the top shaft seals.
Top shaft Seals.
Change the upper, top shaft seal.
(To be done in conjunction with changing of washpipe)
When the protective ring and insert ring are removed, check for in-
dications of mud penetration. Check bearing hub for cracks, wear

and any sign of overloading. Check fixing bolts including secondary
retention device. Clean for mud/dirt if necessary.

Note! If there is indication of mud penetration between the seals,


remove the complete cover and change all seals. Check bearing.
“Wash-out” of main shaft.
Check for “wash-out” of main shaft lower end. Check wear bushing
7 on top of shaft for wear and pitting. Change if necessary. III
For minimum wall thickness and “take-off” diameters, ref. separate
figure.
Swivel to Load frame connection.
Check conical pins for indication of damage and overloading. Check

for loose connections. Check retaining bolts including secondary
retention device.
Swivel cover including gooseneck support bracket.
Check swivel cover and gooseneck support bracket for damage and
any sign of overloading. Check swivel cover fixing bolts and secon-
9 dary retention device. II II

Note! If indications of damage or overloading, check washpipe


alignment. Ref. “Guidelines and instructions”
Bolted connections.
General check of bolted connections on brackets, manifolds, hy-

draulic valves, Junction boxes, etc. Check bolts and secondary re-
tention device.
Junction boxes.
11 Inspect all junction boxes for outer damage. II II
Inspect cable glands, cable gland plates, fixing bolts and brackets.
Junction boxes.
Open all junction boxes and inspect for humidity, loose parts or
loose cable terminations.

Replace condensation inhibitors as required.

Visually check for cracks, wear, damage, corrosion and any sign of

Note! If any sign of overloading/over-torque, perform a critical area


inspection according to inspection point below.
Lower main shaft connection and load shoulder.
Critical area inspection incl. NDE.

Break out the IBOP Valve Setup, remove the thrust rings and per-

form inspections according to attached figures.
Visually check all critical areas and perform an NDE inspection.
Visually check all contact shoulders for smooth and undamaged
surface. Check the shaft run-out.
Breather filter/Adsorber.
Look into the sight glass of the absorber and check that the colour

of absorbent is orange. If the colour has changed from orange to
white, the absorbent must be changed.
