Title of Research:
The effects of land pollution on the residents of Sunflower Circle South
Rumiveldt Georgetown Guyana.
Statement of Problem
How does land pollution affect the residents of Tucville Georgetown Guyana.
Reasons for selecting the topic:
Sunflower Circle is a small community located south-east of Georgetown,
Guyana. This community has approximately 140 residents living in the area.
This community also has a lot of issues pertaining to land pollution. Land
pollution refers to the destruction or a decline in the quality of the earth’s
surface because of human actions. Throughout the area of Sunflower Circle,
the roads and fields are always littered with plastic bottles, plastic bags and
other waste products. The reason for doing this research is to create a suitable
way in stating the causes and consequences in the community.
Method of Investigation:
To collect data for this study, the researchers decided to use electronical
Questionnaires. This method was chosen because it allows for the data to
collected from many persons in short quantities of time.

Presentation of Data/Analysis:
The research was conducted with the assistance of 45 random personnel’s
who answered a questionnaire containing 10 questions. 65% of the persons
were females and the other 35% were males. Fig1 shows the causes of land
pollution of the responders. The community of Sunflower Circle is a small
middle class urban community just ¼ of a mile from the busy neighborhood
of South Rumiveldt Gardens.

60% of respondents said that no frequent collection of garbage was a major
cause of land pollution to the community. 30% said that improper garbage
disposal of garbage was the main cause, while the other 10% said that it was
the animals which roamed the neighborhood.
A simple investigation was carried out of the residents and 75% of
participants said they were affected by land pollution. Fig2 tells how they are
affected by land pollution and the percentage of those who are affected by
each cause.

Causes of Land Pollution
40% of respondents said that airborne disease was a major effect of land
pollution to the community. 30% said that improperly dispose of solid waste
are unhygienic was the main cause. 20% said that the garbage takes away the
scenic beauty of the area, while the other 10% said that the land can
potentially become unhabitable.
A simple investigation was carried out by the residents and 80% stated that
there were solutions to be implemented in place. Fig3 displayed the solutions
that can be put in place to overcome land pollution in the community of
Sunflower circle.

According to the table, majority of the respondents (60%) said that
complaints should be filed in order to reduce persons from polluting the
environment. 2% of the respondents claimed that when educating the younger
ones about land pollution, there is a lesser risk of land pollution in the future.
15% of the respondents claimed that erecting more garbage bins will reduce
the amount of garbage pilled up on the roadways, while the remaining 10%
said that formation of clean up groups will be a very good strategy in terms of
reducing land pollution.
Interpretation and Analysis of Discussion
The researcher’s aim was the find out the possible effects of land pollution in
the area of sunflower Circle, south Rumiveldt. A total of 45 electronic
questionnaires were distributed and were answered by 11 males and 19
females. The data revealed in Fig 2 that 40% of respondents said that airborne
disease was a major effect of land pollution to the community. 30% said that
improperly dispose of solid waste are unhygienic was the main cause. 20%
said that the garbage takes away the scenic beauty of the area, while the other
10% said that the land can potentially become inhabitable. In Fig 1, 60% of
respondents said that no frequent collection of garbage was a major cause of
land pollution to the community. 30% said that improper garbage disposal of
garbage was the main cause, while the other 10% said that it was the animals
which roamed the neighborhood. In fig 3
