LEDGED DOOR
 A ledged door is made up of timber boards known as
battens which are generally 150mm wide and 25mm
thick.These are placed vertically side by side and are
fixed in position by horizontal members known as
ledges.Ledges are generally 100 to 200 mm wide and
30 mm thick.Two or three ledges are provided in a
door

 They are similar to ledged door except that the


diagonal timber members known as braces are
fixed.The braces are 100 to 150 mm wide and 30 mm
thick

 A frame work for shutter is made to render the door


stronger and improve the appearance.The styles are
normally 100mm wide and 40 mm thick.The
arrangement of battens and ledges are made in usual
way

 This is similar to the ledged and framed door ,in


addition to that braces are provided in between the
two ledges. This type of door is more stronger and can
be used for external use also

PANELLED DOOR

PANELLED DOOR
 It is the most commonly used type of door and it
consist of a frame work in which panels are
fitted.The styles are continues from top to
bottom.The top,middle,lock and bottom rails are
joined to the styles and the mullions are joined to
the rails.The minimum width of style is 100 mm
and minimum width of lock rail and bottom rail is
150 mm.

 When it is desired to admit more light besides that
coming from the windows fully glazed or partially
glazed doors are employed.These are helpful for
hospitals ,offices etc..

 A framework of timber styles and rails is prepared
and both the faces of this framework are covered by
plywood
 Flush door provides a smooth and clean surface and good
appearance for building

 Louvered Doors permit free ventilation through
t hem and a t the same time maintain the privacy of
the room.
 However, these door is very difficult to be cleaned.

 These doors are generally used for bath rooms of


residential and public buildings.
 The door may either be louvered to its full height or
it may be partly louvered and partly panelled
 The louvers are arranged a t such a n inclination
t h a t vision is obstructed while they permit free
passage of air.

 Such doors are provided only in public buildings
such as libraries, museums, banks etc. where
there are constant visitors.
 Such door provide entrance to the one a nd exit to
the other person simultaneously, and close
automatically when not in use.
 The door consists of centrally placed mullion to
which four radiating shutters are attached

 The collapsible door is one which can be opened
or closed by slight pull or push. This door is used
where the width of the door is large. This door is
fabricated from thin mild steel sections.

 A sliding door is a type of door which opens
horizontally by sliding, usually parallel to a wall.

ROLLING SHUTTER
 A roller shutter door or sectional overhead door is a type
of door consisting of many horizontal slats hinged
together. The door is raised to open it and lowered to
close it. On large doors, the action may be motorized. It
provides protection against wind, rain, fire and theft.
