Replica Blocking

The document provides descriptions of blocking and staging for various scenes between characters. It describes where characters are positioned on stage and how they move and interact. For example, it notes that in one scene Cora enters and sits next to Sam after he drops a pencil, and Tucker then jabs Sam with another pencil. Blocking lesson notes

 1) Cora is sat alone drinking coffee, Alex comes over and slumps on
the chair, begins talking to Cora, potentially starts eating crisps.
Arrogant entry. Obnoxious crisp muncher!
 Chris and Jude enter, sitting either side. Chris walks in and goes to take
a crisp “can I have that fiver back” and then Alex scrunches the bag to
prevent him from taking one. Chris sits down when Alex asks “did you
find him” to show authority.
 Jude sat beside Alex as they say “I believe you” to show sides.

 2)Cora begins the scene talking whilst getting stuff in her bag ready in
a locker room (changing room). Both busy until Lewis realises that
they’re getting gossip. More energy between the two

 3) At College, round the back, sneaky smoking area. Could be the

basement. Sat on bin MIKA. Ash sat on floor focusing on coursework
maybe. Mika thinks they deserve the world, thinks they’re right.

 4) Auden sat facing the front, possibly typing on a computer. Alex

wandering around behind looking confused. Alex then sits beside
Auden to have the conversation. Auden has very upright posture, Alex
is more slumped on the chair. Both characters are exaggerated (stupid
and smart) to contrast each other.

 5) Starts with Sam drawing, looks for a different pencil when Cora
enters. Startles him and he drops the pencil care. they both pick up the
stuff. Cora comes around then sits next to Sam on his left. Tucker
comes in grabs a pencil from a pot and jabs Sam with it. Cora and Sam
go to leave, Mika stops them and Cora squares up. Everyone enters and
surrounds Sam and Cora.

 6) Sam and Cora both stood on the stage, Sam in the centre and Cora
slightly just off centre, maybe slightly behind him listening to him talk.
Quite simplistic so that the attention is on Sam’s monologue.

 7) LJ is trying to get Tucker to react. When she’s questioning him and

trying to make him react, she could step forward a bit to almost
intimidate him and freak him out, and as Tucker reacts he could
become smaller.
 9) Both stood on stage, when one says a dominant line, they move
forward and the other steps back. This exercise is good to show the
control between the characters.

 10) Alex joins Mika (who is waiting for Ash) and they both are sat at
table, opposite each other. Ash walks in and sits on the chair between
them. Alex manipulates Mika into the prank and blaming it on Sam
(false flag- media/ government creates something to then blame on
someone else), making Sam appear even weirder. Steve didn’t like it
sat down- Mika stands at the front looking out to the audience, waiting
for Ash. Alex walks up to Mika, then Ash walks on w/ churros and
joins them. (Alex’s motivation is purely to wind Mika up, which
works)

 15) Sam sat on the floor, looks like he may have been beaten up. Sam
is angry at Cora. Cora is stood up pacing around to show nervous
energy, Sam looks unresponsive with his head down. At the end Cora
sits on the floor with Sam to examine his hand, shows closeness.

 17) Ash sat on chair. Mika stood more forward. Not much set to show
location, however it is the same place as earlier.
 19) Both stood at the back, walk forward a little and face each other.
Representing being stood just infront of the entrance of the cave facing
the beach. Once they’ve held hands, they sit on the floor facing each
other.
