Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV.

Srirangapatna

Mysore, it is of religious, cultural and historic importance.
The monuments on the island town of Srirangapatna has been nominated as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, and its application is pending on the tentative list of UNESCO.[1]
Nanjangud
Nanjangud is a town in Mysore district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Nanjangud lies on the
banks of the river Kapila (Kabini), 23 km from the city of Mysore. Nanjangud is famous for
Srikanteshwara Temple. Nanjangud is also called "Dakshina Kashi" (southern Kashi).[2] This
city is also famous for a variety of banana grown in the region, the Nanjanagoodu rasabale.[3]
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, also known as Pakshi Kashi of Karnataka,[1] is a bird sanctuary
in the Mandya District of the state of Karnataka in India. It is the largest bird sanctuary in the
state,[2] only 40 acres (16 ha) in area,[3] and comprises six islets on the banks of the Kaveri river.[4]
Ranganathittu is located three kilometers away from the historic town of Srirangapatna and 16
kilometres (9.9 mi) north of Mysore.[5] The sanctuary attracted about 3 lakh visitors during 2016–
17, which shows its notability as important bird sanctuary of India.[6]
