Introduction:
A key component of the self-help movement, which emphasizes individual success and the
accomplishment of personal objectives, is personal effectiveness. It entails turning setbacks into
assets, overcoming limitations with calculated moves, and sharpening abilities to boost output.
This formative evaluation intends to investigate the achievements of Mark Zukerberg, the creator
and CEO of Facebook, and Sunder Pichai, the CEO of Google, who have attained extraordinary
milestones through their unshakable devotion. Successful people can understand their own
strengths and shortcomings, regulate their emotions, and communicate successfully because they
have strong self-attention, psychological intelligence, and critical questioning ability. They
prioritise what is most essential, develop strategies, and strive towards certain goals. Accepting
constructive criticism and adjusting one's perspective are necessary for developing one's
potential. The CEO Genome's most recent edition is a research-based framework for identifying
the distinctive features and styles of effective chief executives. CEOs that demonstrate these
characteristics, according to the model, have a greater likelihood of long-term success. When it
comes to obtaining and keeping knowledge, a person's learning style is the preferable method.
An online resource called LinkedIn Learn may instruct students using cutting-edge instructional
methods. Various resources from the top corporations and schools throughout the world are
available through Future Learn. (2012) (Kwasny et al. Publications from LinkedIn Learning cater
to a variety of learning styles, including kinesthetic, auditory, and visual. Additionally, the guides
allow for independent learning, making them perfect for students with flexible study schedules.
Task 1: Case Study Review:
CEO of Google, Sunder Pichai Genome Model and Covey's 7 Habits
Sunder Pichai, known as Google's CEO, rose to the top of his field with persistent commitment
and passion to his profession. A person's path to reaching their goals is greatly influenced by
their skills. Among Pichai's abilities, leadership stands out as the most important and has a direct
impact on his successes. His capacity for navigating various situations with assurance has been
crucial to achieving his goals. He has played a crucial role as a world leader thanks to his
leadership skills (Hahn,2018). Like every individual, Pichai and Mark possess both positive and
5
negative elements within his skill set. This section of the formative assessment delves into a
detailed exploration of the positive and negative aspects of leadership skills.
Leadership Skills and Behavior
The CEO Genome project emphasizes that positive skills greatly contribute to an individual's
goal achievement. Based on the skills identified in this project, the positive skills of Sunder
Pichai that have helped him excel as a global leader are discussed below.
Engaging for Impact:
Sunder Pichai demonstrates adeptness at collaborating and integrating teams, as highlighted in
the case study. The CEO Genome project also emphasizes the importance of balancing
stakeholders' interests. Pichai's skill in engaging employees in the decision-making process has
consistently enhanced the effectiveness of decisions. Covey's habit of "Thinking Win-Win"
further supports Pichai's ability to engage employees and increase organizational impact, leading
to enhanced productivity (Cowan-Sahadath et al.,2010). An example of this is seen in the
successful launch of Google Chrome, where Pichai's engagement with the team and his focus on
win-win situations convinced Larry Page of the product's uniqueness, resulting in a successful
launch.
Resilience:
Pichai's resilience skills have been instrumental in establishing Google as an undisputed market
leader. Initially, the competition with Microsoft Internet Explorer posed a significant challenge,
with only 10 engineers working on Google Chrome. However, Pichai's resilience skills enabled
him to gain the CEO's confidence and successfully launch the product. Today, Google Chrome
holds a substantial 68% market share. Pichai's resilience has also led to impressive financial
results, as highlighted in the case study "Resilience and Maintaining Personal Effectiveness”
(Ciulla et al.,2020).
CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg Genome Model and Covey's 7 Habits
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook, can be analyzed through the lens of both the CEO
Genome Model and Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People framework.
6
The CEO Genome Model, which identifies key skills and behaviors of successful CEOs,
provides insights into Zuckerberg's personal effectiveness. One aspect that aligns with the model
is Zuckerberg's equanimity, highlighted as an important skill. Zuckerberg's ability to approach
challenges with calmness and composure resonates with the model's emphasis on making
decisions quickly and confidently, engaging for impact, and proactively adjusting to change. This
attribute has played a crucial role in Zuckerberg's leadership journey, fostering effective
communication and problem-solving within Facebook (Abu, 2022).
Additionally, Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People framework can shed light on
Zuckerberg's leadership approach. For instance, his emphasis on critical thinking aligns with
Covey's Habit 2: "Begin with the End in Mind" and Habit 6: "Synergize." Zuckerberg's passion
for understanding computer systems and his commitment to delving deeper into concepts reflect
his ability to think critically and approach his work with an innovative mindset. This aligns with
Covey's focus on proactive thinking, seeking mutual understanding, and leveraging diverse
perspectives for synergistic outcomes (Coyle, 2022; Sassaman, 2022).
Key skills of Mark Zuckerberg:
Equanimity:
Mark Zuckerberg believes in taking a measured and composed approach to challenging
situations. Because it might alienate others and give the impression that you don't have control,
he thinks that rage is unhelpful. Zuckerberg's relationships with his coworkers and employees
have improved as a result of his equanimity practise, and he keeps a laser-like concentration on
the most important topics.(Abu, 2022).
Critical Thinking:
Zuckerberg places a strong emphasis on using critical thinking in all element of his job. He
thinks it's essential to participate in careful study in order to have a significant influence, promote
innovation, and take advantage of chances. Zuckerberg's devotion to critical thinking and the
necessity of digging deeper into topics rather than taking them at face value is evident in his love
for understanding the intricate workings of computer systems from a young age.(Coyle, 2022;
Sassaman, 2022).
7
These skills contribute to Zuckerberg's success as an industry pioneer and leader in the field of
information technology. Through the cultivation of equanimity, which facilitates effective
communication and problem-solving, he is able to conquer challenges while maintaining a level
head and a positive outlook. Because he places such a great emphasis on critical thinking, he is
always on the lookout for novel points of view, can quickly identify opportunities for innovation,
and consistently makes sound decisions.
TASK 2: Evaluation of Learning Style
Main learning style and its strengths and limitations.
Based on the results of Honey and Mumford's quiz about how people learn, I have a reflective
learning style. "Reflective" is the word for students who want to stop and think about what
they've learned. Students are more likely to come to good conclusions from their research if they
think critically about their education (Astuti et al., 2018). Figuring out how you take in
information best could help you remember more of it. People want to learn in different ways,
which can be put into four groups: visually, audibly, through reading and writing, and through
movement. In this part, I'll discuss how I learn best and how that influences my assessment of
Honey and Mumford's knowledge styles questionnaire's strengths and drawbacks (Appendix 1).
Evaluation of learning style in comparison
1. Auditory Style
It's common to want to hear information first. They learn better via listening. The number of
people who prefer to learn through reading books, participating in in-depth talks with other
people, listening to online audio files, and attending lectures is rising. This approach is better
than others since it promotes involvement and memory retention without using visual cues.
Studying can be exhausting when people are speaking aloud, such as at a library. Paying close
attention in class has helped me understand the material and put what I've learned to use in
business (Gilakjani, 2012).
2. Visual Style
"Visual apprentices" are those who learn best through images. Examples of graphic support
include face dictionaries, facial drawings, picture books, movies, and other visual aids produced
8
by educators. Visual aids help students study more effectively. A student has access to many
different tools, such as the capacity to depict things through the creation of charts and diagrams
and the possession of strong longitudinal abilities that may be utilized to prepare ideas or
instructions. The challenges that arise when there are no visual aids accessible and just words
and dialogues are used in the learning process are one drawback of the visual knowledge
approach. By watching the lives of innumerable forward-thinking, crucial characters on film, I
have learned what it takes to become a great leader. Aside from that, the majority of the lessons
I've acquired that have advanced my knowledge and competence are those required to complete
the performance show in class.(Korzynski et al., 2021).
Evaluation of learning style in comparison
Techniques to develop skills.
By interacting with the world around us, we can learn something new every day. These skills can
be learned and used in daily life, but to reach your full potential and reach your goals, you must
constantly look for ways to improve them. Important facts about yourself will give you a sense
of direction and help you avoid distractions so you can focus on the things that will help you
reach your goals (Quitadamo and Brown, 2021).
Plan for your own developing counseling
Ben Franklin once said that if you don't have a plan, you're setting yourself up to fail. The best
way to make sure you reach your goals is to plan for your personal growth. Making a unique
plan for growing is a great way to get my bearings and have a place to go back to if I ever feel
disorganized or uncertain (Quitadamo and Brown, 2021).
Find a mentor.
If you want to make big changes in your life or career, a mentor who helps you grow as a person
could be very helpful. Mentoring is important for leadership because it helps people learn more
about themselves. Sometimes we need an outsider's point of view to help us see past our own
biases. (Kartika et al., 2020).

Task 3: Analysis of Online Platforms for Developing Personal
Effectiveness
You may use online resources like Coursera and LinkedIn Learning to increase your productivity.
Lessons on self-improvement and business are covered by Coursera, whilst those on LinkedIn
are more likely to focus on management and interpersonal relations. The author thinks LinkedIn
Learning is better for her preferred mode of learning since it continually emphasises problem-
solving and critical thinking abilities through reflective learning. The platform is made for self-
reflective learners who can finish the quick courses whenever it's convenient for them. Because
there are so many online learning resources available, there are numerous ways to increase
productivity. Based on my desired learning style, I will compare LinkedIn Learning and
Coursera—two of the most well-known online education services—to see which is best for my
career progression (Liu and Correia, 2021).
Two Online Platforms
The courses offered by LinkedIn Learning include a wide range of topics, from business and IT
to design thinking and other forms of creativity. The website aims to link users with experts
across a variety of fields so they may expand their skill sets and knowledge. One of the
platform's most important features is its capacity to satisfy customers' various educational
demands. The website uses a recommendation system to tailor courses to each user's interests
and ability level. On the other hand, Coursera is an online learning platform that works with
prestigious universities and institutions to provide students all over the world with opportunities
for advancement, certification, and degrees. Users of the platform get access to excellent training
alternatives that may increase their employability because of the company's connections with
prestigious universities. (Shahi and Giashi, 2019). Coursera provides a more methodical
approach to education by having academics deliver courses via recorded videos. To enhance my
growth, I must select a platform that supports my favorite learning technique. The second
exercise validated my assumption that I process information more effectively when it is
presented visually. Because I am a visual learner, pictures, charts, and videos are my most
effective teaching materials. If information is presented in an appealing manner, I am more likely
to remember it. LinkedIn Learning and Coursera both provide courses for visual learners. The
10
format of LinkedIn Learning, on the other hand, is more suited to my learning style. Visual aids
in LinkedIn Learning classes include videos, quizzes, and evaluations. Furthermore, because the
platform is individualized, I can concentrate on the abilities that will help me develop in my
work (Wang et al., 2021).
Appropriate Platform
My professional development has been aided by LinkedIn Learning courses that are more
directly related to my line of work. A variety of approaches are offered through LinkedIn
Learning for topics including leadership, communication, and time management. Students may
base their assignments on the methods and concepts presented because these courses are taught
by subject matter experts in respective fields. On the other hand, Coursera's courses are typically
more academic in nature. On the website, there are leadership and communication courses
available, although they typically include academic instructors and have a more theoretical
orientation. I can understand how this kind of schooling might be beneficial for certain
individuals, but I need to concentrate on developing professionally (Dai et al., 2017). LinkedIn
Learning is a better match for my job progress since I want to learn. My learning style is
complemented by the platform's visual aids and adaptive learning techniques, which let me
concentrate on the knowledge I need to advance professionally. Additionally, LinkedIn Learning
courses are more applicable to my current role, so I can utilise what I've learned right away.(Dai
et al., 2017).
Conclusion
It is concluded that Google's CEO, Sunder Pichai's personal efficacy and leadership qualities
have had a huge impact on the organization and its people. Pichai has established a culture of
invention, cooperation, and employee motivation via his passion, adaptability, and excellent
communication. The key elements of both Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
and the CEO Genome Model are in line with Mark Zuckerberg's personal performance as CEO
of Facebook. The competency of a worldwide corporate leader is examined in this research,
along with the author's chosen learning method and a comparison of other websites for online
self-improvement. To evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of each, case studies were linked to
advantageous and disadvantageous skill sets and habits. There are four categories of methods
that people prefer to learn: visually, vocally, orally, by reading and writing, and physically. In
11
general, the studies stress the significance of knowing one's learning style, the value of
leadership effectiveness, and the popularity of online self-improvement resources. To achieve
your professional and personal goals, maintaining a high level of productivity is essential.
Because of this, it is essential to provide an honest assessment of both one's strengths and
weaknesses. Finding out which kind of education works best for an individual makes it much
simpler to develop an effective and individualized study strategy. In today's hyperactive digital
environment, the convenience and accessibility of online resources for education and the
advancement of one's skills are of the utmost importance.
