Fern Skirt 130

The document provides diagrams and instructions for making a fern skirt. It explains that when printing the diagrams, you should select "actual size" rather than "fit to page". It then shows a diagram of a fern skirt pattern with labels for the skirt length, hem, and seam allowances. Below this, formulas are given for calculating the diameter and radius needed to make a half circle skirt based on waist measurement and seam allowance.

FERN SKIRT DIAGRAM

Skirt length + hem + seam allowance

If you're making the skirt in two
pieces, cut along the dotted line
Cut two on
and add a 4cm seam allowance (sa)
the fold
instead of 2cm seam allowance

2C + (2cm sa) = d d =r
π 2
r - sa = radius

Radius

HALF CIRCLE SKIRT

To calculate:
Waist measurement e.g. 66cm
66cm x 2 = 132 (2C) + 3.2cm (seam allowance x 2) (2sa)
÷ 3.14 (π) = 43 (diameter) (43 ÷ 2) - 1.6cm (sa)
= 19.9cm radius
