Search for a web application/website that is used for business. Provide/answer the following:
1. Name of the web app/website (2 points)
- LinkedIn
2. Link to the web app/website (2 points)
3. Screenshot of the home page (3 points)

4. Short description about the web app/website (3 points)

LinkedIn is a social networking site designed specifically for the business
community. The goal of the site is to enable registered members to establish and
document networks of people they know and trust professionally. LinkedIn is also a
resource for professionals to find jobs, research companies, and get news about their
industry and business connections. It gathers data across LinkedIn profiles to provide
policymakers, employers, workers and educators with data-driven insight into patterns
that help align workforce supply with demand worldwide.

5. Three (3) unique/interesting features of the web app/website (5 points)

The three features of LinkedIn that I find interesting is I can record the correct
pronunciation of my name, export my connections and I can also take advantage of the
advanced search option.
The first feature that I find unique is the recording of the correct pronunciation of
my name. On LinkedIn, I can connect with people from different countries and accents
who may not know the correct pronunciation of my name. To make this problem go away
and make the platform a more inclusive place, Linkedin has a feature that allows
recording of our name in our own voice for 10 seconds. Anyone can hear the recording
by tapping the speaker icon next to our name once you upload the recording. Second
feature is I can export my connections wherein it allows me to easily export my
connections to other contact management systems. The contacts are downloaded in a
spreadsheet – either .CSV or .VCF format. This list will include the contacts’ names,
current company names and email addresses. Lastly, LinkedIn’s advanced search feature
provides us with a much better search experience. It’s the best way to identify and contact
a person as a part of a targeted search. Like if I want to know if I’m connected with
anyone working at a specific company. I can just type the company’s name in the
company field section of advanced search. Then, filter the results by selecting
‘relationship’ to see if I have any first or second-degree employee connections.
Assuming you are tasked to modify the web app/website, what are the changes that you will
apply to it? (10 points)
LinkedIn should add a feature of the job listings with similar and related characteristics to
users’ existing employment. This should attract the attention of people who aren’t actively
looking for new opportunities but would be interested in jobs that align with their values and
interests. Privacy concerns is also the one that I want to modify since LinkedIn collects a vast
amount of personal information from its users, including employment history, education, and
connections, which can be used for targeted advertising. The platform has also faced several data
breaches, raising concerns about the security of user data. So, they should a feature wherein users
can control exactly how open or private their information will be and whether they’re visible to
other connections within their network. In addition, I saw a post in the internet that LinkedIn is
notorious for the amount of spam and unsolicited messages users receive. So, users are often
bombarded with connection requests and messages from recruiters, which can be overwhelming
and distracting. For this to solve, they should a way to completely filter out spam messages.
