Heydar Aliyev, by Zaha Hadid, Baku 1033, Azerbaijan

The Heydar Aliyev Center is a flowing shape that comes from the folding of the
landscape's natural topography and the wrapping of specific activities. The Heydar Aliyev
Center's architecture creates a continuous, flowing interaction between the plaza and the
building's interior. As part of Baku's urban fabric, the plaza rises to enclose an equally public
interior space and form a succession of event spaces dedicated to the collective enjoyment
of current and traditional Azeri culture. The building blends the traditional distinctions
between architectural object and urban environment, building envelope and urban plaza,
figure and ground, inside and exterior with this gesture. In terms of materials, it has a
minimal variation with only concrete, glass, and steel can be observed, this not only give an
impression of elegance but also enhances the overall fluid shape, form and mass of the
structure. Form, with its deconstructivism, open manifestation of complexity of the building.
The form is combined with fragmented geometry or shapes which gives an expression of
fluidity and dynamic beauty.
Reversible Destiny Lofts in Mitaka, by Shusaku Arakawa & Madeline Gins, Tokyo

Color is one of the most obvious elements in design that is emphasized in the
Reversible Destiny lofts. It can stand alone but, in this structure, colors were used to apply
within different shapes which emphasize the fragmentation of shapes. These colors
create mood and tell a story about the brand. Helen Keller was a source of inspiration to
Arakawa and Gins, and was described by them as someone able to practice ‘reversible
destiny’ in her own lifetime.
Sydney Opera House by Jørn Utzon

Geometric Shape. The Sydney Opera House is a modern expressionist design, with
a series of large precast concrete "shells", each composed of sections of a sphere, forming
the roofs of the structure, set on a monumental podium. The shape gives mimicry of
nature, its forms, functions and colors. Utzon was influenced in his designs by bird wings,
the shape and form of clouds, shells, walnuts and palm trees.

Patterns. Aside from its simple and captivating geometrical shape it is also
dominated by patterns. It allows to create mesmerizing abstract images with strong visual
appeal. Shapes, lines, color and contrast all contribute toward creating repetitive and
eye-catching patterns. It has 603 rhombus-shaped glass segments and 70 triangular glass
segments. It is built to the precise measurements of the Great Pyramid of Giza stated
before. The glass panes of the pyramid are shaped like triangles and diamonds.

John F. Kennedy Library by I. M. Pei

Contrast refers to the difference in brightness between the dark and light areas of an
image, so emphasizing this Library. Contrast is intriguing, and it creates a focal point and
visual impact. The contrast between white and black creates a simple and quiet ambiance
just like how a library should be. This massive structure evokes simplicity, boldness, and
formality expressed through its contrasting colors, balance and proportion, and grouping
of elements.
