                               “Belen Making Reflection”
Belen-making is one of the performance tasks that requires not only the creation
of Belen itself but also the unfolding of the purpose as to why the task was created
itself. As a student, I believe this task reminded us to open our hearts and minds again
to the values of Jesus Christ’s humility on his birth. He was born in a place wherein the
only luxury was the deafening silence of the surroundings. There was nothing around
but themselves. Those who saw the vision of how the world was saved from sins were
the only audience that have seen how God was born in human flesh and started his
earthly life. The activity bonded by our whole section gave us the heads up on how
important it is to create an environment wherein we all could showcase our creativity
and awareness in one of the most important celebrations as Christians. This is where I
could practice my faith and hone again my beliefs as I reminded myself again of how to
become an obedient child of God. They said that the only thing that would keep us what
we are now is our faith in what we believe in, which is why I trust God in whatever would
happen in my life just like how I trust him from the very beginning of my faith.
As a member of the planning theme, I have to manage and budget all the needed
materials to utilize the use of small money but the highest quality. The process of
planning all the details was hard at first, but as we go on, we realized that our difference
created a synergy that helped us to finish what we visualized. As the plan materializes
into an artwork, I was proud to see the progress, not just the development of our task,
but also the improvement of our socialization towards each other. As I have mentioned,
since we all have different ideas and concepts in mind, we innovated each other’s
individualities that had resulted in us creating a full-show artwork. I must say that it is
both created by our creativity and innovation, even though it did not work the same as
we expected in our plans. However, this kind of challenge has brought me to see the
bigger picture our educator wants us to experience. And that is through the use of
creating an artwork that shows more than its purpose of creation. As a result, I believe
that this kind of activity is what makes our school life even more productive and
meaningful as time goes by.
They have said there is a need to understand the differences of one another to
create unity within society, and I believe it is true. This is because it was proven through
this activity that hard work comes with a productive result. Even if people would say that
our result was not what they expected, but I believe that through this, we did not just
remind ourselves how God created hope for humanity, but also it created hope for us to
socialize and understand each other differences and similarities. Thus, through this
performance task, I have learned many things and one of them was to reconcile our
faith together with the people around us.
