The Atkins Diet is a an eating plan that
focuses on low-carbohydrate intake. This
diet improves overall health, as well as
supporting weight loss. The diet is an
alternative to other low-fat traditional
diets.
What is the history of Atkins diet?
Dr. Atkins developed the Atkins diet in the 1960s. He
published his first book, explaining the principals of
the diet, called ‘Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution’ in 1972.
The book discussed the reduction of carbohydrate
consumption that induces the body into a state of
ketosis, in which the body burns fat that is stored in
order to produce energy.
Whats the process of Atkins diet?
The Atkins diet is divided into four phases, it starts off
with a strict limitation to carbohydrate ingestion,
throughout the diet the carbs are gradually added back
in. During this process, the individual progresses towards
their goals in terms of health and weight.
