ABSTRACT
Local food is a food product that has been produced, grown and consumed for a long time in an area or a particular local community group. It was further explained

that local food was developed according to local consumer preferences. With efforts to utilize local food, village communities, especially the lower middle economic

class, can minimize the allocation of family income to buying food. The aim of this community service is so that mothers can utilize and process local food ingredients

that are around them so that they can be used to prevent stunting in toddlers. The method used was lecture, question and answer/discussion and providing PMT to 31

toddlers. The targets for this community service are all 22 mothers of toddlers at Posyandu Purwodadi. The result of this community service is that there is an influence

of training on making local PMT before and after with a value of p = 0.000 < < 0.05. It was concluded that training could increase the knowledge of mothers of

toddlers about PMT (supplementary feeding).

ABSTRACT

Exclusive breastfeeding plays a very important role in reducing child morbidity and mortality, because breast milk is the best food that contains nutrients that are

needed by babies at the age of 0-6 months. milk production. The goal in community service is for breastfeeding mothers to know and understand the benefits of giving

turmeric simplicia tea which can increase milk production. The method used is lectures, questions and answers/discussions and giving simple turmeric tea to nursing

mothers. The target in this community service is all breastfeeding mothers in Telaga Sari Village, Tanjung Morawa District, Deli Serdang Regency, totaling 40 people.

15 respondents (37.5%) have sufficient and insufficient knowledge and 10 respondents (25%) have good knowledge. Whereas after counseling about the benefits of

turmeric simplicia tea on increasing milk production in breastfeeding mothers there was an increase where respondents who had good knowledge were 30 people

(75%), respondents who had sufficient knowledge were 8 people (20%) and respondents who had good knowledge less than 2 people (5%). It can be concluded that

counseling can change the knowledge of breastfeeding mothers about the benefits of turmeric simple tea which is very effective in increasing breast milk production in

nursing mothers.

INTRODUCTION

Food is anything that comes from biological sources, agricultural products, plantations, forestry, fisheries, animal husbandry, waters and water, both processed and

unprocessed, intended as food or drink for human consumption, including food additives, food raw materials, and other ingredients used in the process of preparing, processing and/or

making food or drinks.(banten, nd)

Included in the definition of food are food additives, food raw materials, and other ingredients used in the process of preparing, processing, and/or making food and

drinks. The definition of food above is the definition of food issued by the world body for food affairs, namely the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO).

Indonesia is a country with diverse natural resources. As an agricultural country, the most dominant commodities are agricultural commodities. Agriculture is one sector

that can produce resources, especially food resources. The world experienced a food crisis around 2007-2008. Rural agricultural workers, small-scale farmers, and the poor suffer most

from food insecurity, hunger, and malnutrition (Belesky, 2014).

Local food is a food product that has been produced, grown and consumed for a long time in an area or a particular local community group. It was further explained that

local food was developed according to local consumer preferences. Local food is related to local culture that originates from within the country. Local food is abundant in Indonesia.
Septiana Wina Paramitha Sari, Syafaa Adha Yusyani, Dyah Puspitasari Srirahayu

Abay (2020), added that currently Indonesia has 77 types of food sources of carbohydrates, 75 types of food sources of protein, 110 types of herbs and spices, 389 types of fruit, 228

types of vegetables, 26 types of nuts and 40 types of beverage ingredients.

With the diverse types and abundance of local food, we should make the most of it to support food security. Local food sources of carbohydrates include corn, cassava,

cassava, canna, arrowroot, gembili, yam, gadung, breadfruit, taro and potatoes. This local food source of carbohydrates is utilized as much as possible as a substitute for rice. Apart

from that, carbohydrates can also be obtained from fruit and nuts, so that staple food ingredients no longer need to be imported from outside, let alone imported.(Kusmiyati., RDA

Citra., S. Prapti., 2021)

With efforts to utilize local food, village communities, especially the lower middle economic class, can minimize the allocation of family income to buying food.

Research results (Galhena, Freed, & Maredia 2013) state that local food grown in the home yard or garden is able to overcome food insecurity and malnutrition and provide additional

benefits such as increasing household income.

Counseling is a process of changing behavior, increasing knowledge and life experience so that students become more mature in thinking and behaving. (Irma et al.,

2008). In this community service activity (pengabmas), researchers will train mothers to utilize and process local food ingredients that are around them so that they can be used to

prevent stunting in toddlers.

The theoretical basis used is the achievement motivation theory by Mc Clelland (1987: 40). Achievement motivation is an effort to achieve success or success in

competition with a measure of excellence which can be in the form of other people's achievements or one's own achievements. Lindgren stated that achievement motivation is a drive

that exists in a person in relation to achievement, namely mastering, manipulating and managing the social and physical environment, overcoming all obstacles and maintaining high

quality work, competing through efforts to exceed previous work results, and outperform other work.

IMPLEMENTATION METHOD

The method of implementing community service is divided into three stages; The first stage is to check toddler data with the Purwodadi village midwife. The second

stage was to make PMT for 31 toddlers. The activity stages begin with conducting a pre-test about local PMT for toddlers, then providing material about local PMT for toddlers, then

providing training in making PMT for toddlers.

1. Facilities, Tools and Materials

Facilities and tools for training activities are food report books, outreach media, namely Infocus, sound system, notebooks, examples of unique foods and how to make

them.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

A. Results

After carrying out training activities for making local PMTs for mothers of toddlers at Posyandu Purwodadi, the following results were obtained:

Table. 1

Knowledge, Respondents Before and After training onMaking Local PMT for Mothers and Toddlers in Purwodadi Village, Pagar Merbau District

Pretest 3 13.63 5 22.72 12 54.54 22

Posttest 19 86.36 2 9 1 4.54 22

From the table above it can be seen that before training was carried out on making local PMT for mothers and toddlers, there were 3 respondents who

had sufficient knowledge (13.63), 5 respondents with sufficient knowledge (22.72%) and 12 respondents with insufficient knowledge ( 54.54%).

Meanwhile, after providing counseling about the benefits of turmeric simplicia tea for increasing breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers, there

was an increase, where respondents who had good knowledge were 19 people (86.36%), respondents who had sufficient knowledge were 2 people (9%) and respon -

dents who 1 person (4.54%) had less knowledge.

` So it can be concluded that there has been an increase in the knowledge of mothers of toddlers before and after training on making local PMT (supplemen -

tary feeding) in Purwodadi Village, Pagar Merbau District, Deli Serdang Regency.

B. Discussion

Based on the results of community service before training was carried out on making local PMT for mothers and toddlers, there were 3 respondents who

had sufficient knowledge (13.63), 5 respondents with sufficient knowledge (22.72%) and 12 respondents with insufficient knowledge (54, 54%).

Meanwhile, after providing counseling about the benefits of turmeric simplicia tea for increasing breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers, there

was an increase, where respondents who had good knowledge were 19 people (86.36%), respondents who had sufficient knowledge were 2 people (9%) and respon -

dents who 1 person (4.54%) had less knowledge.Supplementary Food (PMT) given to malnourished toddlers aims to provide high intake, high protein, and sufficient

vitamins and minerals gradually, in order to achieve optimal nutritional status with sufficient nutritional composition. An increase in the average intake of energy and

protein shows that there is a difference. significant in both groups after the intervention was carried out and in this study there was a significant effect on changes in

body weight after being given PMT(Ratnawati et al., 2023).

The results of Diana's research in 2006 showed that there was a significant relationship between parenting patterns and maternal employment. A mother

who, after giving birth to her baby, goes straight to work and has to leave her baby from morning to evening will result in the baby not getting breast milk. Meanwhile,

providing breast milk substitutes or additional food is not carried out properly. This causes the baby's nutritional intake to be poor and can have an impact on the baby's

nutritional status. After providing counseling, giving PMT 4 times during the activity process, it was seen that there was a change in the nutritional status of toddlers in

Madureso village between before and after the activity was carried out. Before the activity, the nutritional status of toddlers was known, namely 9 toddlers (24.3%), 10

toddlers (27.1%), 10 toddlers (27.1%), 18 toddlers (48.6%) and good. After the activity nutritional status bAlita was less than 6 toddlers (16.2%), good for 8

(21.6%) toddlers and good for 23 toddlers (62.2%). This shows that providing PMT and training can increase mothers' knowledge regarding toddler nutrition which

will have an impact on the process of feeding toddlers in the daily menu.(Astuti et al., 2020).

From the results of this service activity, it is hoped that mothers of toddlers will always use local food to make additional food for toddlers because it has

proven to be very useful, affordable and easy to obtain. And cadres can provide education to all mothers of toddlers about the benefits of local food as additional food

for toddlers.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

After this community service, it can be concluded that the training can change the knowledge of mothers of toddlers about PMT (Local Supplemental Feeding).
