1. Gary has 7 $2-notes and $5-notes. The total value of the notes is $29. What is
the value of all his $5-notes?

2. Leonard bought 248 cartons of oranges. There were 36 oranges in each


carton. He sorted the oranges into big and small oranges. If there were 1046
big oranges, how many small oranges were there?

3. Suling had some money. She wanted to buy 24 files but was short of $3. In the
end, she bought 21 files and had $6 left. How much money did Suling have at
first?

4. Florence had between 50 and 60 beads. If she strung them into 5 necklaces,
she would have 2 beads left. If she strung them into 7 bracelets, she would
need 4 more beads. How many beads did she have?

5. The total mass of 3 wooden crates is 178 kg. Crate A is 3 kg heavier than Crate
B. Crate B is twice as heavy as Crate C. Find the mass of Crate C.

6. Jamie and Derrick had 947 shuttlecocks altogether. Derrick had 217 less
shuttlecocks than Jamie. How many shuttlecocks did Derrick have?

7. Wendy had 468 oranges. She packed them equally into 9 boxes. She then sold
6 boxes of oranges. How many oranges did she have left?

8. Raul had 786 trading cards. Molly had 274 trading cards. How many trading
cards must Raul give to Molly so that each of them has the same number of
trading cards?

9. A laptop cost $2015 and an oven cost $468. Emily wanted to buy the 2 items
bust she was short of $495. How much money did Emily have?

10. 3 children and 4 adults paid a total of $6230 for their air tickets to Australia. If
the air ticket for a child was $450, how much was the air ticket for an adult?

11. Caitlin bought a washing machine for $1099, a dryer for $699 and 6 sets of
plates at $15 each. How much did she pay in all? Round off your answer to the
nearest $10.

12. Tricia baked 50 more brownies than Sharon. Sharon baked 4 times as many
brownies as Lydia. If all the 3 girls baked 320 brownies altogether, how many
brownies did Tricia bake?

13. Leon bought 3 shirts and 4 ties for $175. Each tie cost $14 less than a shirt.
Find the cost of each tie.

14. Barry has twice as much as Melinda. If Barry spends $36 and Melinda spends
$10, Barry will have the same amount of money as Melinda. How much money
does Barry have?

15. At the opening of a new mall, every 3rd shopper receives an umbrella and
every 8th shopper receives a photo frame. What is the position of the 2nd
shopper who will receive both an umbrella and a photo frame?
