PROJECT SUMMARRY

Introduction to Feasibility Study

A feasibility study is becoming necessary as project management gains

popularity. Though generally focused on proposed business initiatives, feasibility

studies can be applied in a variety of contexts. An establishment or store in a

company that has a business idea should first carry out a feasibility study to

ascertain the idea's potential before moving forward with the business's

development. Time and money can be saved by figuring out early on whether the

idea won't work. To put it succinctly, it is the start of any project or plan.

Feasibility analysis is also used to determine the realistic view that

guarantees the technical, legal, and financial viability of a project. It acts as a

guide to determine whether a project is worth the money and risk. In some

cases, a business idea may not be practical in particular circumstances because

of increased operating and investment costs. Taking on an unprofitable project

could result in costs greater than profits for the company.

A feasibility study is conducted to determine the project’s chances of

success. When doing so, a practical concept must be taken into account. Given

that the planned firm can only succeed if the product is technically feasible, there

are various approaches to dealing with the potential. It basically means weighing

all relevant elements while determining if a project is viable. Taking action and

exerting effort to realize the aforementioned business idea.

Name of Enterprise

The bio-organic fertilizer store was named ‘Green Growth’ which rooted in

ecological health. ‘Green’ symbolizes environmental sustainability and eco-

friendliness, emphasizing the commitment to environmentally responsible

practices and products. ‘Growth' signifies the company's aim to enhance plant

growth and agricultural productivity while also highlighting its own potential for
1
expansion and development in the industry. And also, the term ‘Bio-Organic’

symbolizes a type of fertilizer that is derived from organic materials and is

designed to enhance soil fertility and plant growth through natural and biological

processes.

The name ‘Green Growth’ was coined during a brainstorming session

where our group of entrepreneurs looked to determine a name that would

complement a product aimed at making a commercial product that has been

underutilized and under marketed.

Location

Figure 1. Location Map

The Green Growth Bio-organic store is located in Malano, Magsaysay,

Davao del Sur. The location was chosen for its proximity to environmentally

conscious farmers and gardeners, as well as its reputation as a hub for

sustainable practices and organic agriculture. Also, the area is a convenient

location for customers because it is besides the highway.

Descriptive Definition of the Project

Green Growth is a bio-organic fertilizer that sells high-quality and branded

available in the market. Through these, we believe that our project is worth

establishing because our target customers is around Municipality Magsaysay as

the majority of residents are farmers and gardeners who use bio-organic

fertilizer.

Furthermore, Green Growth's impact extends beyond local communities

to benefit in society as a whole by generating employment opportunities. The

operation of the project necessitates a workforce, contributing to job creation and

subsequently increasing local taxation. The growth of the venture serves as an

inspiration for other entrepreneurs, fostering a spirit of innovation and economic

development within the community. Additionally, the project not only aids the

government but also stimulates local spending; further enhancing the economic

prosperity of the community it serves.

Highlights of the Project

History

The development of bio-organic fertilizers can be traced back to the

recognition of the importance of natural processes in soil fertility. Historically,

traditional agricultural practices relied on organic materials such as manure,

compost, and crop residues to enhance soil fertility. These materials contained a

variety of essential nutrients that were slowly released into the soil as they

decomposed. Over time, farmers observed the positive effects of using these

organic materials on crop yields and soil health. The shift towards understanding

and utilizing organic fertilizers can be seen as a response to the need for

sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.

3
As awareness of environmental issues and the impact of conventional

farming practices grew, the demand for bio-organic products and sustainable

agriculture increased. This led to further research and development in the field of

bio-organic fertilizers, with scientists and farmers collaborating to refine and

optimize formulations. Today, the Green Growth movement gained momentum,

inspired by these early advocates who sought alternatives that not only

nourished crops but also safeguarded the environment. The bio-organic fertilizer

industry continues to thrive as a vital component of sustainable agriculture, with

ongoing research and innovations contributing to its growth and efficacy.

Nature of the Industry

The bio-organic fertilizer industry plays a vital role in modern agriculture

by providing sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives to chemical fertilizers. Bio-

organic fertilizers are derived from natural sources, such as compost, manure,

and plant materials and they enrich the soil with essential nutrients while

improving its overall quality. The product lines within the bio-organic fertilizer

industry are diverse, offering solutions tailored to the specific needs of

sustainable agriculture. One prominent category includes nutrient-rich compost

formulations derived from organic materials such as plant residues, food waste,

and animal manure. These compost-based fertilizers contribute to soil fertility

and structure while minimizing reliance on synthetic additives. Another essential

product line involves bio-organic blends enriched with beneficial microorganisms,

such as mycorrhizal fungi and nitrogen-fixing bacteria, which enhance nutrient

absorption and promote overall soil health.

The demand for bio-organic fertilizers has been steadily increasing due to

growing awareness of the adverse effects of chemical fertilizers on the

environment and human health. This rise in demand is driven by consumers who

prefer organic produce and sustainable farming practices. The supply situation

has seen expansion as well, with more companies entering the market to meet

the demand. Historically, the bio-organic fertilizer industry can be traced back to

ancient agricultural practices, but it gained significant momentum during the

organic farming movement of the 20th century. The growth patterns in recent

years have been notable, with the industry experiencing double-digit growth rates

as it caters to the global shift towards more sustainable and organic agricultural

practices. The growth patterns in recent years have been notable, with the

5
industry experiencing double-digit growth rates as it caters to the global shift

towards more sustainable and organic agricultural practices.

Despite its growth, the bio-organic fertilizer industry faces challenges such

as the limited availability of organic materials for production, high production

costs, and the need for better standardization and regulation. However, its

potential is significant, given the increasing emphasis on sustainable farming

practices and the rising demand for organic products. As the industry continues

to innovate and address these challenges, it is likely to play an increasingly

prominent role in the global economy, contributing to both agricultural

sustainability and economic growth by providing solutions that align with

environmental and health-conscious consumer preferences.

Mode of Financing

profits and losses are shared equally among the partners. It will be managed by

a group of seven owners known as partners, who will also bear responsibility for

any debts or obligations of the partnership. Each owner will hold a 20% share of

the business.

Major Assumption

Market Feasibility

Many individual’s farmers and gardeners have a preference for bio-organic

fertilizers because of their natural ingredients that improve soil health, support

sustainable farming methods, and result in the growth of more nutritious crops

and plants. The market for this business definitely has a lot of potential. However,

there is some competition in the area from businesses that sell fertilizer indirectly,

which might reduce the number of potential customers. As for the growing trend

in bio-organic fertilizer usage suggests that starting with a small setup and later

expanding can lead to the establishment of a standard shop that resonates with

everyone in the community. The increasing awareness of the importance of bio-

organic fertilizers in Magsaysay has led to a rising demand, making the bio-

organic fertilizer business a promising venture.

As the majority of residents in the area are farmers and gardeners who

use bio-organic fertilizers, we came up to the idea of establishing a standard bio-

organic fertilizer store to meet the demand of the consumer. This business not

only aligns with the community's preferences for bio-organic solutions but also

contributes to sustainable agriculture practices and the overall well-being of local

crops and gardens. We are located in Malano, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur. The

area is a convenient location for customers because it is besides the highway.

As part of the proposed marketing program, effective management style and

effective advertisement methods such as word of mouth, social media and radios

will bring the business into competitive advantage.

Demand

Based on the study conducted by Howard & Steiner, (2018) on demand

for bio-organic fertilizers highlights an increasing interest in sustainable

agriculture. Studies suggest a growing awareness of the environmental impact of

conventional fertilizers, leading to a higher demand for bio-organic alternatives.

Farmers are exploring bio-organic options due to concerns about soil health,

water quality, and long-term sustainability. Additionally, consumer preferences for

organic produce contribute to the rising demand for bio-organic fertilizers in the

agricultural sector.

As a key component of agricultural sustainability, bio-organic fertilizer

contributes greatly to improving soil fertility. Bio-Organic fertilizer has many

sources such as minerals, animal source, sewage sludge and plant. Vegetables,

animals and residue materials had a contribution to improve soil organic matter

content in soil. Therefore it is recommended that, using integrated nutrient

management is a continuous improvement of soil productivity on longer term

basis through appropriate use of bio-organic fertilizers (i.e. animal manure, plants

residue and sewage sludge) and their scientific management for increments of

optimum growth, yield and quality of different crops.

Furthermore, research indicates that the demand for bio-organic fertilizers

is fuelled by the desire to reduce synthetic chemical inputs in farming. Studies

emphasize the positive effects of organic fertilizers on soil structure, microbial

16
activity, and overall ecosystem health. As agriculture moves towards more eco-

friendly practices, the demand for bio-organic fertilizers is likely to persist and

may even be influenced by government policies promoting sustainable

agricultural methods. This shift reflects a broader societal commitment to

environmentally conscious farming practices. In order to measure the projected

demand the following table are tabulated:

Figure 2. Demand Supply Analysis

Figure 3. Demand Unsatisfied

20
Figure 2. Demand Unsatisfied

The highest unsatisfied demand rate for Green Growth Bio-Organic is

projected to reach 40% anticipated during the initial quarter of business

operations. This is attributed to the establishment phase where adjustments and

marketing programs are not fully in place, coupled with anticipated higher start-

up costs during the initial three months of operation.

There is a possibility of encountering a 30% unsatisfied demand rate in

the second quarter of business operations. This projection stems from the

execution of marketing programs during this period, despite the expectation of

higher production costs.

The 20% rate of unsatisfied demand is attributed to challenges in the

aspect of bio-organic fertilizer production. This percentage reflects potential

issues or constraints specific to that part of the operation, leading to a projected

level of unmet demand.

During the third quarter of business operations, the lowest rate of

unsatisfied demand is anticipated. This is attributed to the coinciding planting

season when a surge in local area is expected. The appeal of Green Growth Bio-

Organic during this period makes it a favourable choice for many customers.
