HUMAN RESOURCES OPERATIONS AMIDST PANDEMIC

Human resources are the set of people who make up the workforce of an organization, business sector,
industry, or economy.

-People

▪ Human Resources Has Various Function In A Company

✓ Determine the needs of the staff /personnel.

✓ Determine whether to use temporary staff or hire employees to fill these needs.

✓ Determine do’s and don’ts.

✓ Recruit and/or interview the best employees.

✓ Train employees and upgrade their learning knowledge.

✓ Supervise the work.

✓ Evaluate the work.

✓ Establish ‘’Discipline work culture’’ in the organization.

✓ Avoid politics in the office.

✓ Apply ‘HR Software’ for the ease of work in the organization.

✓ Manage employee relations. If there are unions, perform collective bargaining.

✓ Prepare employee records and personal policies.

✓ Manage employee payroll, benefits, and compensation.

✓ Ensure equal opportunities.

✓ Deal with discrimination.

✓ Deal with performance issue.

✓ Ensure that human resources practices conform to various regulations.

✓ Motivate employees.

✓ Mediate disputes.

✓ Disseminate information in the organisation so as to benefits its growth.


▪ What is Covid-19?

>> Coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

▪ The Impact of COVID-19 in the Philippines.

>> Nearly half of the world’s 3.3 billion global workforces are at risk of losing their livelihoods. Without
the means to earn an income during lockdowns, many are unable to feed themselves and their families.
For most, no income means no food.

▪ Human Resources Was Originally Known As ‘’Personnel’’ or ‘’People Management”

I. Institutionalizing minimum health protocols.

a. Use of face masks.

b. Washing of hands.

c. Use of alcohol, Disinfectants, and foot baths,

d. Social distancing.

II. Requiring employees to undergo counselling treatment.

HR response to this: Design a ‘’Wellness Program’’ all employees which they may be required to
undergo:

1. Spiritual

2. Psychological

3. Social

III. Mandatory reporting of notifiable disease.

Notifiable Disease- a disease that, by law, must be reported to the health authorities. (R.A 11332, April
26, 2019).

1.HR cultivates the wellbeing of the employees.

Cultivate- try to acquire or develop.


2.HR facilities effective remote work.

Remote work- also known as work from home [ WTH].

3. HR engage employees through effective communication.

4. HR stays on top of new legal responsibilities.
